2016 Camaro Spyed Running Nürburgring
The Nürburgring has fast become the benchmark test area for the entire automotive world. It seems like there was never a time where the infamous track wasn’t used to suss out the viability or track readiness of a car.
In past generations though, most of the cars seen at the ‘Ring were all from European manufacturers, but since the American car revival that we have been witness to as of late the ‘Ring has become more and more important to all manufacturers. That’s why our spy photographers caught this bad boy heading towards the track.
This is the 2016 Chevy Camaro, and it’s frankly a big departure from the old Camaro. Why, because this Camaro has its underpinnings with the Cadillac ATS on the Alpha platform.
It’s smaller, lighter, and will accept a wider range of engine platforms than the original platform. That means this new Camaro will be able to use the 2.0L turbo charged mill from the ATS and be able to compete against the new EcoBoost Mustang for the hearts and minds of frugal enthusiasts.
This new car promises to be much better than the last generation, but from my experience with it, it wasn’t all that bad. Where the GM engineers are hopefully working on is a tighter suspension and revised interior.
I barely could fit in the standard SS, but I’m also 6’4”. Give me a set of sport seats and drop it to the floor and I’ll be happy. Just please don’t change that LS engine….Unless you give me a LT1. Then you can change it!
