840 Horsepower 5th Gen “Trans Am” Camaro

Remember a few years back when the fifth generation Camaro came out, and people pined for the loss of Pontiac, and the Trans Am badge? Several concepts had come out showing what a possible fifth gen T/A would look like, but nothing materialized, until Trans Am Worldwide stepped in, offering a conversion kit for the fifth gen Camaro to give it the full T/A effect like the stillborn concept.

So, the basics first: the Trans Am-ification of the Camaro makes an already aggressive looking car that much more so. The front and rear bumper covers, hood and fenders are “T/A-spec” as are the amazing “Bandit” retro wheels. The interior receives an equally cool throwback aesthetic. As crazy as this all looks, one of more subtle details is actually the most bonkers: the roof is cut and refitted with removable t-tops.

It looks the part, but does it go? Yes: Trans Am Worldwide sources a 454 cubic inch (7.4L) LSX crate motor, with a custom grind cam, and crucially, the 2.9L Whipple supercharger in place of an intake manifold. The net result of this madness is 840 wheel horsepower and about 730 lb-ft of torque.

There’s more to be said about this, so I’ll let the folks at /Drive take it from here:
