This week’s Burnout video features a 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am powered by what the video description claims is a “built LS1.” There are no further details on this car, but based on how easily it turns these sticky tires to smoke, it is safe to assume that this Firebird’s LS1 is making at least a little more power than it did when it was sitting on a Pontiac dealership showroom 16 years ago.
Now, as burnouts go, the display put on by this LS1 Trans Am isn’t all that impressive, but this is more of a purposeful burnout to heat up the Mickey Thompson Street ET tires more than a burnout to just create gobs of smoke – although it isn’t clear why this Trans Am needs the tires to be heated up.
In any case, this long, rolling burnout by a great sounding LS1 Trans Am is a great way to waste some time on a Friday so crank up your speakers and enjoy!
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
