2014 Cadillac CTS

After moving its headquarters from Detroit to NYC, Cadillac is ready to gear up for a model revolution. It will be dropping its current naming scheme and debuting a whole host of new models over the next few years.

We just got the fabulous looking, and ridiculously overpowered ATS-V, which we really want to drive. Now it looks like Cadillac is getting ready to strike while the iron is hot and debut another new model. Supposedly at next month’s Detroit Auto Show, Cadillac will debut its new CTS-V.

We’ve been seeing a huge number of prototypes and test mules hit the infamous Nürburgring over the past few months, so the car coming to Detroit isn’t all that unexpected.

What was unexpected was the rumor of how much horsepower it would be putting down and from what engine it will be using. According to MotorAuthority, the CTS-V will come with the supercharged LT4 motor that was just released in the new Corvette Z06. However, the motor will “only” pump out 640 horsepower, 10 down from the ‘Vette.

That horsepower figure puts the new V extremely close to Dodge’s Hellcat Charger.  GM’s engineers already told us that the LT4 is extremely under-strained, meaning that with an ECU tune, that number is sure to grow and possibly overtake the Dodge.

The Detroit Auto Show is set for January 12th, so in the interim, what would you guys like to see out of the new CTS-V? More power, more class? Let us know in the comments below.
