Being a Ferrari, the 308 is obviously a rare car. Still, they’re among the most affordable Ferraris you can get. Most of them have been lost to rust and neglect like a lot of things built in seventies, but the 308 was special. It was the first Ferrari to feature a mid-engine V8. If you’ve looked at Ferrari recently, that configuration is clearly their bread and butter, but in 1973 this was uncharted territory for them.

The fact that they’re (relatively) common and have enough room for a V8 make it the perfect candidate for an LS swap. Ferrari’s original offering was a 3-liter that made 230 horsepower, which wasn’t so bad considering everything. You know what’s better? A twin-turbo LSX.

Didn’t have those in ’73.
