“Turbo” Camaro is an Over-the-Top Fantasy Racer

So, here I was thinking that one life size Hot Wheels Camaro was enough when Chevrolet brings out this thing. Surprisingly it’s not actually a Hot Wheels car, but a promotion for a new Dreamworks animated movie called “Turbo.” It’s about a snail who want to become and Indy 500 driver. I’m not entirely sure how this “Turbo” Camaro fits into the story line, but I also don’t really care. The car is reason enough.

It IS totally ridiculous though. Everything about it is loud. The massive blower, the huge CF wing, the widebody… it even looks like someone attached a snow plow to where the front splitter would normally go. Predictably, the wheels are massively over sized 24 inchers with no sidewall. Whether or not they’re able to handle this thing’s 700hp is anyone’s guess.

Also, how can you call this the “Turbo” Camaro, and then stick a huge blower on top? You would think that the easy thing to do would be to, you know, throw some turbos on it.

So no. This is not a car built for the hardcore. Then again, it was never really mean to be. After all, the movie is about a cartoon snail that wants to be race driver; there’s no reason for it to be serious. I do know, that if I was 10 years old and saw this utterly ridiculous car in real life, I would be enamored.
