Default '67 Camaro N/A

First 1/4-mile passes with the 383 installed. Holley Hot Rod Reunion 2016 at Bowling Green KY was the event...96 degree temps with humidity made it miserable as usual.

These two runs were 5 hours apart. Proform 1050 carb proved to be a touch to large for this combo as it would cough on the starting line...time slips reveal it was likely a bit lean as well.

I've since replaced the carb with a BG 975 and expect better results the next outing.

Thanks - I had no hand in the building of this particular engine, but it has AFR heads and a Engle roller cam of around .600 lift.

That is a stout running 383. What AFR heads? Cam at .050? Compression ratio? What are the details on the drivetrain?

Congrats on a great running sbc!!

I did not have a hand in this engine build so I'm a little in the dark on specifics. I believe it to be around 13.5 compression. Uses a powerglide with a low gearset, completely unknown 8" converter...was thrown together with spare parts lying about the shop lol. 12-bolt holds a 5.14 gear.

Weight should be 2950 with me inside.

I can see this is not your first rodeo!
I've always like the '67 over the '68.

How can you tell by the time slip, it's running lean?
What are you looking at?

Mostly due to experience at this track and the wide weather difference between the runs. There was also some popping down track as an indicator.

I now have a BG 975 on it and it has cured the bog...first runs showed it jetted too lean as well @ 81 square. Have it upped to 85 square now awaiting another session.

The time slips are very consistent.
But just by looking at your time slip, I can't see how someone can tell if the car is lean or rich?
By me looking at the slip, looks like the mph is a little low for your et. But being a torque motor and 514 gears maybe that's the right mph.
Just trying to learn a little.

What is your tire size and rpm across the line? Thinking of changing gears on my combo. Car runs good man!

I'll report how it likes the somewhat smaller carb when we take it to the track next...this Saturday looks like a no go due to thunder storms in the forecast. I too think the mph is low as well. I believe the et spread should have been greater between the two runs.

Tires are Goodyear 30x9 radials and the 5.14 gear is a holdover from the previous Stock Eliminator trim, not by design. I no longer have a full size tach in the car, instead relying on a compact Autometer shift light w/built-in tach. I mostly neglect to view the rpm crossing the finish line...math says it likely is turning around 7500. I have a 8000 chip on the high side and have not hit it yet. A different gear and converter are not out of the question sometime down the road.
