I dont see any problems as long as you can hook up and dont have like 3800 lb race weight or anything like that

6speed or auto?

That's gonna be your problem, the 4ljunkie. Get rid of that POS tranny and put anything else in there and you'll be 10 times better off.

fwiw I ran 10.8 @122 with 440 rwhp @ 3650 2 years ago.

If you are staying n/a and want to run off the footbrake, a TH350 will do. If you want to run off a transbrake, or eventually go to a power adder, a Th400 would be a better choice. Powerglide if this is a car that will see 900+ rwhp, but it won't run as good until a good bit more power is added.

If you must keep the overdrive, 4L80 with a manual valve body and transbrake

yea i have heard problems with the stock 4l60e but i figured a flt street and strip would hold up to between 500 and 600 horse. and with a th350 what conversions wouyld have to be made and would it turn my gas milage to crap?

gas mileage would certainly go to hell, conversion is easy, get the tranny, a crossmember from BMR and a driveshaft, differnet shifter and that's it.

But it sure would be alot stronger, and with a manual valve body, alot more fun

if you can float the 4l80 swap, do it. There's guys in the 8's with those, and they live no problem. 4l60, that's not gonna happen

yup. bmr makes a crossmember, the tranny will bolt right in, converter all that works fine, shifter is the only thing that ya will have to really work on to get it right. PM mightymouse on here, he is running one in his turbo car, runs 9.0 with it and made the shifter look perfect.

Then don't go the 3-speed auto route. FLT makes solid 4L60E's that will last in the 10's. I run a FLT Level 4 with no problems. Car is driven to and from the track. I can even squeeze 17-18 mpg on the hwy just cruising. My friend runs 10's on spray with a FLT trans and no problems. TXCAMSS runs in the high 9's with a 4L60E built by Circle D. Check out the Automatic transmission section here for more information. There is also some good information about converting to a 4L80E if you really want to go that route.

One thing is for sure, going to a 4L80 will be the last tranny swap you'll ever need.

yea i just got off the phone with flt and with their level 4 street strip 4l60e that i would not have any problems with the 500-600 hp power range and it will only cost me the price of the tranny which plus ship[ping is only 2050 and it would be close to 5000 if i did the 4l80e swap
