Default is my oil pressure too high?

i just finished my heads / cam install, also replaced the oil pump with a mellings 296. the car turned right on , but i was looking at the oil pressure and it reads at 60 at idle. i dont know if this is ok. i used the blue spring, and the black o ring that came with the pump. If this is ok then what is too high at idle , and while driving? What do you think?

60 isnt bad. I see 75psi cold oil pressure at idle pegged at 100psi above 1500rpm cold. When its hot it idles at about 50psi and pegs at 100psi WOT so i think you are fine. The black o-ring is correct. The green one if for the truck pick up style if i remember correctly.

Your okay. I wish melling would supply that pump with an even "lighter" relief spring imo.

the only prob with that much oil pressure, is it bypasses oil by the oil filter when its that high when its cold. besure to you a very good oil filter, because they have a spring instead of a crush sleave like the cheap ones.

what gauge are you going by???im pretty sure the gauges in anything newer than the 98 are just dummy gauges...meaning its either reading low or high...if so get an aftermarket gauge and put in the car....
