Default Pulling SES Codes Manually without a scanner?

Is it possible to get the SES codes without a scanner or OBD reader or tuner? Reason i ask is i have no way of getting my codes read for free or cheap here in the UK. If i could i would just go to Autozone to get it read, but im not in the states... Locals want $120 just to pull the codes

I have before pulled codes on other cars manually using a jumper on the OBD port and just counted the flashes the SES/CEL flashed and refered to the manufactures code book.

Its a 96 obdII non california car, and i can delete the code by removing battery power. When the car is turned on after that the car runs great and strong for a bit, but after about 15-20 miles the SES light triggers and i start to get a really bad stumble when crusing in 6th and trying to gain speed, or any time a heavy load is on the motor. when going WOT at about 3K+ the car pulls relatively normal... o2's is just a guess but i really dont get worse gas mileage, but i want to know for sure whats triggering the fault... Anyone?

not on OBD2. the jumper works on OBD1 only. pick up your own scanner so you can pop it off. i paid like $80 for mine here in the states and they have cheaper ones.

you have deleted several things that will throw codes in you sig. have they been tuned out?

nevermind i see that that is on your 1995

No, this is in my Bonestock '96 Z28...

Do you have any references for the $80 scanner (Ebay, ls1tech vendors, etc.)? I will buy one right now lol.

thanks!

My scanner cost $10 and it is a data-logger/tuner too. just buy a OBD2 to USB adapter on ebay and download one of the many free programs (or even buy one of the top end ones)

that is nice, but i carry my reader with me just in case something pops up and if it does i can tell when/what i just did. although if you always had your laptop with you it would be nice.
