Exclamation oil leak ...oil pan gasket ?

went to the dealer today to check the oil leak . and they found out its oil pan gasket ! and gave me estimate of $695 to fix it !!
the car is 02 ta wa6 . wut are my options here . i really dont wanna spend that much here . how hard is to do it ? any help appreciated !

How funny I just found out my oil pan gasket is gone too... So yea any pointers here would be helpful. Thx

mine as well... thought it was rear main seal but inside of the bellhousing was dry as a bone.. have to drop K-member to replace.. ughhhh, I only lose .5qt's every oil change, so its not affecting me that much

Mine does about a drip every time I park it. Quite aggravating, wondering if I should just silicone it up...

How hard it is all depends on the person and if it is your DD. If you can afford the down time if you don't get it done in a weekend give it hell. If you do decide to do it make sure you torque everything!!! It's very easy to strip out aluminum and if you do it is going to be a bad day.

Well to get the oil pan off you will have to do quite a bit of work. Thats why it is so expensive.

You will need to drop the K-member a bit and un-bolt the motor mounts. Pull the engine upward while the K-member drops just enough so you can pull the oil pan off.

Then you have to drill out a few rivets and then just replace it with a new $40 gasket .

I would say a good 6hr job.
