Unported, 243's will make more power. Both will bolt right up.

Slightly more power, but if you are having them ported..... You can save money by going with the 241's. They will cost you $300-400 less, leaving that for the porting which will make them damned near even in terms of flow.

241 = $100-125
243 = $400-500
Hand porting job at a decent shop out here = $300-400
CNC porting from patriot = $600

Most port jobs will flow between 280-300cfm.

Where can you get some brand new 243's for 400 or around that price?

I'd be interested.

243s are the ls6 heads came on the c5 zo6's. They also came on the ls2 GTO's but i believe the valves, and some other specs are different.

Right. The difference between 243's on an LS6 and ones on an LS2 are that the valves on an LS6 are sodium filled resulting in a lighter valvetrain.

basically, the c5z had a couple different spring / cam combinations, as the power slightly increased basically every years from 01-04.

The hollow stem kit is $182, I wounder if thats for one head or two?

Question #1: Why by used 243 head for $600 when you can buy NEW 243 heads for $640???? I say $600 because thats what I have seen them go for used...

Question #2: the 243 head flow better than the 241 head, both stock.
But what about just spending the money to have the 241's CNC'ed,
both would the performe the same, wouldn't they????

How much of a performance difference are we talking, on a stock LS1, to go from 241's to 243's?
