Would like to know this too... my current goal is to have my car at around z06 speed (seems that would make it as fast as most anything on the road which isnt heavily modded) while maintaining great drivability as it is my daily driver.

it was an honest DD car.. no matter what rain or shine..
it is not what most would consider a DD..
on street tires... your going to have to have serious suspension and a lot of power to pull on the top end after you get some traction.. put a set of nittos on it..

my best friend has a '99 transam. Under the hood is a N/A 402 ls2 from texaspeed. He is running MT street legal wrinkle wall tires and runs 11.4's at 5,000ft of elevation. Shocks, sub-frame connecters and torque arm are the only suspension work he has done. He drives it every single day. We also have to travel about 150 miles every weekend to the drag strip. Not once in the 2 years since he got the motor in has he trailered it. So, yes. 11's on street legal tires in a DD is possible. At sea level that would easily be in the 10's!!

are we talking street tires? or street legal tires... there is a big difference between tires allowed on the street and tires you would drive every day on the street..
on street legal tires, it is EASY to get in the 11s.. 10s.. with some suspension 9s and lower..
on street tires that you would drive every day and put a lot of miles on.. thats a different story.

I really dont see the point of trying to run low 11s on streets. You wont be getting the ET the car is truley capable of.

I took my car to the track with the current mods below and 315 sumitomos. Not the best street tires but they were 12.4" wide and it was pathetic. The first time I tried to launch it hard it spun the tires all the way until I hit 3rd gear and I had to back off to avoid hitting the wall (about 300 feet). I don't think I am low 11 capable with my current power level but it should be mid to high 11's capable. The best I could get with a soft launch was a 12.5. I don't see how your going to do it with pure street tires. Maybe if you went with a FI setup?

555 r's... they last a decent amount of mileage and are way better than a street tire. I run them on my DD.

So why when i made a thread about making my 97 formula into something comparable to a newer z06 (2006+). they run low 11s stock. i need to replace most of my old car anyways, engine, tranny, suspension, etc.
i would be running mickey thompson's street radial tires, and all i meant by street tires was anything but slicks.
