Default Bolt on GTO in the 11's

Well Tuesday I finally went out and hit the 11's for the first time. Still running the tune a buddy did in 100* weather too. Its an 05 GTO and never even touched the valve cover or anything on the motor except to change oil and swap to a fast 102. My best time so far is 11.90 @ 114 w/ a 1.61 60ft. I just got drag bags today so that will help with the bad squatting and tires to run skinnies arrive on saturday. According to the list on the gto boards im the 4th fastest bolt on gto in the country right now. With the way St.Louis is my tuner thinks I can hit 11.70 but after that we will need some really amazing weather. 11.70 would put me in 2nd place but I need a 11.599 to take over the number 1 spot which happened to be ran at Atco. Shocking huh? I'm doing all this on the stock stubs and axles so before next season those need to be upgraded. Once you get every bolt on then its down to weight on these things. Only thing I did was take out passenger and rear seat to see how it would do. I'm also a big guy so it just equaled out to a smaller guy running my car for me pretty much. My goal for the year was to get that record though so if I come close to it I think I'd be happy but I'd be super excited if I could beat it hear in St.Louis. The guy said he did major light weight mods and not sure by what but guess I'll try my own ways one day. This car is really wanting a big nasty cam for it, maybe one day it will get it.

Fast 102/NW 102TB/SNL 100mm MAF/SVEDE OTRCAI/ Kooks 1 7/8-catless mids-Stolen Fox H pipe-Kooks Axle back/ Yank SS3600/ GM AU 3.91 gears/ Harrop Rear diff cover/ FLT LVL 5 4l65e/ Gforce 1320 CF DS/ Pedders suspension parts/ UD Pulley/ M/T Drag Radial.

That was what was on when I just ran the posted slip last tuesday. I should be installing some drag bags this weekend and skinnies up front for the next visit. I also need to look at the tune b/c the current one was done in 100* weather so probably more left on the table.

Nice times for sure. What was the temperature at the track? Have you weighed your car? It looks like you have a shot at getting the car into the 11.70's with some good air and traction. If you take some weight out of it, it only gets better. Good luck!

Car went 11.71 w/ a 1.58 60' @ 115mph on Tuesday night. Not sure what the temp was but all my runs have been at Gateway. Not sure of the HP the car makes or the weight of the car. Only difference from this run was I put GTO spares on front as skinnies and better air. It had part of the rear seat in it that wasn't in on the last run. Have some drag bags to help with the major squatting it does but haven't had time to get them in but have the lines ran.

Think the only mod since the 12.1 run was UD and better air but dont hold me to that.

the 11.60 run was at darlington last year, on the stock gto gears ,stubs and axels.

i havent been to atco yet , im hoping to lower the record a little more at the eastcoast shootout in nov .

i have had the trans built ,the converter modded and added 3.91 gears.

What all mods do you have in that thing? I dont get a chance to try out other tracks unfortunately. Also what are you doing for weight reduction? I'm on stock stubs and axles but dont know how long they will last with the 60's I'm cutting. I worked on the tune a little more this weekend but we will see. Right now I'm trying to get my school stuff all together to make sure I dont miss my study abroad which has me leaving in early Jan. for Leiden. What size stall are you running? I've got a yank ss 3600. I honestly have no idea how the hell you got that 11.60 run unless you cut some serious weight. I'm going to have to start traveling to race now since GIR is closing down in the next week or two.

That 1/8 trap time seems a little low for that E/T. Is that because it's an AUTO?

Car runs great, I think you will get the most improvement with weight reduction, find you a 110 pound girl friend who can drive that would get you 1.5 tenths and maybe some other fringe benefit, A 4000 stall might give you another tenth. That would get you to 11.65. I can tell you it gets more difficult the faster you go, I have had many mods disappoint me. Nitrous and forced air always work. Good luck

Your suspension will hold alot more than you have put on it.. My friend's GTO just hit a PB, as of this past Friday, of 10.02 @ 132 NA with stock suspension cuting a 1.34 60ft. Only thing he has is the drag bags in the back and he only uses that to lift the car so the 28s dont rub.

Ya not sure what all I still want to do. A fiberglass hood is a thought but no way I'm swapping the driver seat. I have no home track this time since GIR closed so it will be hard. I could also go to lighter drag wheels and adjust the susepension more. But I wont even be back in the country till May. Moving to Europe Jan 2nd for school.
