Today was the day

Today was the day
Woke up this morning and let the dog out @ 7 am when I noticed a gentile
northerly wind. I immediately thought Hmmmmm; today could be the day.
I've had good MPH in the past but thought that with a bit of tailwind I may
just get that elusive 11 second timeslip. Called the stepdad and tried to per-
suede him to race his 06 C6 coupe A6 but he shriveled and said he'd go with
me if I was gonna drag. Called my pops after gettin' 20 bucks of non-reform
91 octane from a Random Lake Tri Par station, and headed 70 miles south to
Great Lakes Dragway. After paying and tech inspection I went a HOT 12.06
@ 118.04 and thought OK thats OK for now and let it sit w/hood up for about
45 minutes. After talkin' to a guy from Ill. with a millenium yellow 04 ZO6 who
had a Speed Inc cam, cold air and full exhaust w/Hoosier slicks(11.48 @122.8)
I decided that the 67 degree weather and overcast clouds was all the better
it was gonna get. The temp was 160ish, oil temp was 140ish and I did a good
2 gear burnout with my 265/40/18 DRs. Staged shallow, and let her loose @
4200 rpms. The result was a 1.760 60 ft., 5.060 330', 7.72 @ 92.83 1/8th,
9.989 1000 ft., 11.877 @ 119.85. I was extremely happy with this as my
23000 mile LS1 has only mild bowl polishing (flowed 246/200), an EPS 218/226
cam and XS Power long tube headers with a Corsa axle back exhaust. I have
to thank Geoff Skinner for the quiet lobe cam and Jim Moran @ Speed Inc. for
the tune. Factory air box w/K&N filter, 3.42 gears, stock clutch, & I love the
fact that I averaged 32 MPGs on the way there and 33 coming home.
This lil 346 inch engine REALLY impresses the **** outta me. GREAT DAY 2day
