Last run of the year for the 240z
1972 Datsun 240z
5.3 with 243 heads & LS6 intake
Small cam
TH400
3.54 with 25" ET Street tires
Last month I took out the car for the first time and ran a best of 12.02@113mph. I kept surging through my brakes at the staging lights and couldnt launch the car over 2000rpms. I installed larger front brakes along with a fiberglass hood and some rear end parts. You know, shot gun method.
Today I still pushed the front end over 2000rpm, but I was informed that the wheels where not moving. So, I dont know, I guess its a convertor issue. So instead of trying to launch at a higher rpm I just stabbed it off idle at the tree. Seemed to work out and get me my 11's before the season was over.
My big project over winter is to pull out the th400 and go to an overdrive transmission and then finish the suspension so I can get a taller tire under the car.
My car in the background, my buddies (MistaFosta) 240z is in the foreground.

Hahaha.
I am just assuming but I think my car is sub 2600 with out me in it, there wasn't much weight gain from going to the LS pattern iron block and the aluminum blocks are fairly close in weight to the original inline six Datsun motor. Where I did pick up alot of weight was the Infiniti rear end conversion and the th400.
