Default Can't Run 11's!!!!!

OK, I got a question for you all. I've got heads and cam and a bunch of other mods. Actually, I have my mods listed in my signature down below. I dynoed 413rwhp and 394 torque yet my best time is a 12.4 @ 117. The mph is there but I can't get any lower than that. I've been racing my car for about 4 and a half years so I'm not inexperienced. I have a 6-speed. A buddy of mine has an automatic with h/c and he dynoed 410 and a little over 400 torque (can't remember exactly) but his best is a 12.2 at about 114. Another buddy has the h/c setup and dynoed 401 rwhp and 390 torque and he's running 12.8's. What the hell is going on? All of our cars are stock weight. In fact, I weighed mine and I was at about 3600 with me in the car. Please help cause we've pretty much exhausted every solution.

DA? tuning?

the track makes a big difference also- try another track if one is close enough.

Hook us up with some timeslip details & you have ET Streets & a Line Lock, what RPM are you Launching at, I was running 12.4's @ 115 with a crappy *** 1.7x short on a Bolt on car with 3.73's, ET Streets & a line lock. What PSI are you running in your ET Streets, with your car's weight & a good launch you should be able to hit easy 11.7x's.

Try making sure that you are way out of the water, heat the tires up good & try leaving @ 6k rpm's or so if your track will handle it.

Tuned with HP Tuner. The guy that does my tuning really knows his stuff but he seems to think my times are a result of my driving. The track down here is pretty good. There are guys running 8's so they prep it pretty damn well. There are LS1's running low 10's so I don't know what it could be.

THEY MAKE A 2 STEP FOR THESE CARS? Damn! Anyway, here is a quick run down of how I run my car.

I pull up with the slicks in the water. Turn them once then roll out. Do a burn out in 2nd gear...not too long. Just enough to see smoke.

I usually launch at about 4 grand. I tried at 6000 once but I didn't see any gains. I usually cut a 1.7 60'.

I shift at about 6200 which is where my peak power is at according to the dyno sheets.

I hit the quarter at about 6000 rpms. I run with a 26" MT ET Street. Pressure is usually at about 20! Why so high? Because any lower and I'll bog real bad on the launch. If I pop the clutch, it'll bog. If I ride the clutch, I cut 1.8 to 1.9 60'. It's like there is no power when I launch. Top end I can feel the power and my mph is proof but at bottom end, there's no power.

If you or anyone wants, I can email you some videos of my passes at the track. You'll see how pathetic it is. I have dial up so I'll have to send them one e-mail at a time.

The other day I heard someone say that I had the slowest heads and cam LS1 around here. That pissed me off. I'll either run the number or I'm gonna give up on racing and buy a Mustang!

What cam are you running? Even with you peaking at around 6200, I would try running to at least 6400 or 6500 & see how it does, you may shift into a better part of your powerband & run a better trap. It really seems that with a 1.7x 60' you should be able to run an 11.

Now that Summer is here your fighting the weather. 1.7 60' should be good enough. Try dropping some weight, & shift higher. I shift my TR227 @ 6800. Good luck, It's all fun you'll get there..

I would post my time slips but I have no way of scanning them. I only have one of the time slips showing the 117 mph but there's no 60' on that one or 8th mile because it was run on a Thursday and they won't give you those numbers until Fridays. Kinda sucks. I'm gonna try shifting at about 6500 and see what happens. I've got the rev-limiter set at 6800 anyway. I'm also going to go up on the tire pressure to about 23lbs and just dump the clutch from about 4500. That should take care of my bogging problem. I may just skip the burnout and spin the tires enough to dry them off. I'll run it this Thursday so I'll keep you all posted.
OH! BTW! Anyone know of a strong drive shaft I can buy that won't cost me a nut?

23 PSI in ET Streets??? I usually run about 14 - 15 depending on track conditions & they will heat up to 18 - 19 PSI. Try 15 PSI to start. I don't run 23 PSI in ET Streets when I'm on the street much less the track.

If possible, you need to get all the numbers, it can tell us where on the track the car is not making it happen. Also, you may want to try another track.

**** shifting, apparently it isn't working out for you. i see an a3 conversion in your future . till then shift your car like you are friking mad at it. your elbow should hurt after your run is over, and you should be shifting soo hard you will have trouble keeping the car straight. . hell that is how i used to shift- and i was going 12.4 @108mph consistently in an awd turbo 4-banger

I'm gonna run at 23 lbs because I bog real bad at 20 psi...even when I launch at 5000 and dump the clutch.

Wow. 1.7 60's AND 117 mph only netted 12.4.

As stated you should shift above where you make peak power.

Are you sure you are an adequate shifter? Try to work on the shifts.

My A4 previously dyno'd 343 rwhp, cut low-mid 1.7's and ran 12.2.

I'd also be very curious to see a whole slip if you can get one. Do you have any with all the numbers you can just type out into a post?

What happened to all that NOS filled Texas air? It must not float at your track seriously though have you had anyone else drive your car to see if results are different? Sometimes other drivers can extract differnet performance results because of driving style
