Default Finally made it. 11.92's

(I did post this in the drag racings results a couple days ago, but not as much info was given in the post and I have now decided I'd rather have the "11 second club" tag than my MIA "tech junkie" status

Finally. I not only made it, but consistently run sub 12.0. My last four consecutive runs, spanning two nights have all been low-mid 11.9's.

Best run:
60' 1.642
330' 4.892
594' 7.099
1/8 7.590 @ 91.63
1000' 9.929
1/4 11.921 @ 112.73

Second best was 11.923 @ 112.80.

Current mods:
Jet-Hot longtube headers
Speed Inc 3" duals dumped with dynomax bullets
Max Evil 4L60E with vacuum modulation
TCI SSF4000, B&M 24k tranny cooler, TCI +2 quart aluminum/finned trans pan, TCI Flexplate
stock 10 bolt with 3.23's
TSP MS3 (237/242 .603/.609 113), PRC duals, Ti retainers, hardened pushrods, Rollmaster double, ported LS6 oil pump
TSP lid
SLP CAI
ported TB
LS6 intake
SLP underdrive crank pulley
BMR boxed, weld in subframe connectors
26x10.5x16 ET streets (15 psi cold)

I have removed the front sway bar, back seat, spare tire/jack, insulation from under carpet everywhere but under driver's seat, AIR, EGR, washer fluid reservoir/pump (never used the thing cause it sprayed all over the car), heat shields on underside of car where the stock exhaust use to be and I ran with 1/4 tank of gas.

DA was reported to be +625 feet. Pretty good weather for late June in the midwest.

Car made 385 rwhp/360 rwtq (unlocked) after tuning at LS1 Speed (aka speed inc)

11.9 may not seem like much from a cammed/stalled LS1 to some of you guys, but remember that most stock 98 A4's will run 13.5-13.9. I only ran 12.6 with full exhaust, lid, CAI, SSF3500 and ET streets. Ran 12.21 with the cam and now 11.92 adding LS6 intake, restall from 3500 to 4000 and the underdrive pullies.

This car is my only vehicle and my daily driver 24/7/365. I put snow tires on in the winter.

lol, I wish. I have a huge list of mods that will probaly take 2+ years before I am into the 10's. Oh well, I've owned the car for FOUR YEARS before running 11's.

I need a six point roll bar, driveshaft safely loop, major suspension mods since mine is bone stock (QA1 shocks, V6 springs, LCA's, torque arm, panhard rod...), possibly new lightweight wheels with slicks/skinnies for the track and nice days (currently I have ET streets on older/heavy wheels for the track), 12 bolt (just to be safe), driveshaft, window tint, new carpet, tubular K-member.......and THEN I can look at the next level in mods.

Plan right now is to get all that **** out of the way before getting heads, then forge the bottom end (pistons/rods with rod bolts and rings, anyway) so I can spray it. Of course, in order to hold heads/cam/nitrous I will probably have to put a lot money into the 4L60E again or finally go with a TH400. It WILL be primarily a street car though, so we'll see what I do with the tranny.

I have a long ways to go, and it will probably take another four years to get there. Considering I have another 2.5 years before I can graduate college (damn 5.5 year plan, lol) I won't have a lot of money for those big ticket items for awhile.

Hopefully I can afford a newer vehicle to become my daily driver and possibly even a tow vehicle in the next 2-3 years so I can keep the mileage on the Z28 from getting too high.

Way to go man and welcome!
How does you car idle with the A4 and your cam? I have been thinking of the same one, but have been told that it's a little too big for my 4A and 3.73s. Any feedback would be helpful. jt

What is the actual stall speed of your vig3600? Even with a stock LS1 intake manifold, 3.23's and a too small 3500 stall converter I gained 0.4 and 4.5 mph with the MS3. I got another 0.3 with pulley, LS6 intake and restall to 4000. It idles like a proper muscle car. Daily driving is perfectly fine, it's all in the tune.

congrats Nathan...have you ever thought of going to a 3.42 gear or 3.73 or do you think it would do any good?

Thanks. I have considered a 3.73 gear but a lot of people say it won't help me much, "maybe a tenth". Gears just aren't as important for stalled autos as they are for M6's. I have a LOT of things to get for the car yet so I'll probably be waiting on the gear change until they are in a new rear end. And that's gonna be awhile.......
