Going for 11's Cam only w/ 224/224!!! Who's done it?!?!
well im on a quest for 11's and i need some insight. It seems as though its rare to hit 11's with just bolt-ons and a 224/224 but im going to make a mission of it!! With just a lid and exhuast and nittos i did 13.2@108 2.0 60'.... and then Last year i went to the track when i had:
SLP Lid/MAF/induction set up
LongTubes w/ X-pipe
3200 stall
224/224 112lsa
Drag radials
UNTUNED!!!
Went from a 13.2@108 To a 12.4@109 w/ 1.71 60'
I went to the track the same week i just finished installing these mods so i never had a chance to tune it after my cam/long tubes but i still went to the track.. i said "screw it, its only 15 min from my house." Unfortunatly i should have got it tuned right away. The car was banging off the rev limiter before it would shift and it was a dog after the luanch.
New setup:
LongTubes w/ H-pipe
3500-3800 TCI stall w/tranny cooler
224/224 114lsa
Ls6 Manifold
Bo Ported/polish TB
Tuned by a pro w/ HP tuners
M/T Drag radials
You think i can knock off .4 after getting it tuned and adding a bigger stall, better drags,ls6 manifold and ported TB and be a 11 SEC CAM ONLY 224/224??

i'm in the same boat you are 1fastz. i just ordered a TSP 224 XE .566 115 cam for my SS. I ran a best of 12.21 awhile back full weight . my car normally averges 12.4's and high 12.3's during this time of the year full weight. i'm hoping with this cam i can run 11.8's or better full weight. i will add some other weight saving parts later on in the year like skinnies, k-member ,& lt. weight battery.
good luck
good luck

If you mount up a set of weld draglite rims or prostars you're going to drop .2 off your time. I went 12.088 @ 115 with just bolt-ons and the STOCK convertor on Weld draglites. My race weight was 3450. My friend with a stripper Z28 went 11.8 with bolt-ons and a 3600 stall, skinnies, and DRs. Trust me, go when it's around 50 degrees and on skinnies and some nice DRs and you should be there with a monkey driving the car. It's not as hard as you think.
