Default WTF 11s...........

ok guys I have never came in here before. but I never knew that these cars were running 11s with so little. so I have to ask the question I just bought a 00 SS. I have been buying some things for the car lately. all it has now is the slp lid, 3.55 gear, a4. 2700 stall. just bought and installing cam kit 221/221 595 595 on a 114. pacesetter LTs, ory, tci 3500. and a bluecat tune. will be getting an ls6 intake when I find a good deal. but what kinda of # should I be running on street e/t's? I was just hoping for mid 12s- low 12s

I would get a better converter than a TCI. I might have hit 11's with stock internals with some good weather and/or lightening the car. But I slipped in the Futral FM4 226/226 .575/.575

one of my best friends has a 01 firehawk that has the ms1 and a vigilante 4000 stall. the kicker tho is that before the vig he had a 4400 tci. tcis arent made for all that. they dont hold that well. not saying its broken or anything but the highest he could brake stall it to at the track was like 3800 whick made him run a 11.68 at 117. the tcis are made to kind of be there for you to run that monster cam you need it for but it feels like it slips when you get into higher rpms when brake stalling. they just arent made like the vig is. my buddy thought his was messed up but he talked to the guys at probuilt when he rebuilt his 4l60e and they told him that the tcis just arent made to the intense handling like some of the other stall converters. thats why they are fairly cheap. i would go ahead and spend the extra money and get a vigilante. its worth it for the money and my buddy loves it. he hasnt had any problems out of it.

TCI's are SOOOOO bad. I would run 9's stock internal if it weren't for this horribly inefficient converter. Oh, and the converter also ran off with my wife and killed my dog.

I don't know why people bash them so much. I think like anything else, if you don't do the supporting mods, you reap the consequences. I'm not saying that Yank, Fuddle, Precision and the like don't make good converters, if not superior converters, but for my budget the TCI was just fine and dandy.

I put in my SSF 4000 at about 75,000 miles, the car just turned over 84,000 yesterday, and I have had zero problems. This is with probably 75 track passes and repeated floggings on the street. Now I do have the following: 24k cooler, deep pan, shift kit, and a tune for the converter. I also know two guys locally with the EXACT same converter and gears who have no problems.

How would I get on the SI List if my converter sucked? Oh, and the car is going deeper this year, I plan to hit 11.4x's or 11.3x's by the fall, all on a TCI converter.

I'm not a TCI nutswinger, but I get tired of hearing how their converters are complete pieces of crap, I've had nothing but good to say about mine.
