Ball in tire, what does it mean... As the title says, ive got a ball in my driverside rear tire. I took 2 pics to show u guy's, its located where the tire is a bit cleaner lol I just wiped the spot down with my hands before i took the shots with my phone.
I just noticed it yesterday morning and its the 1st time ive had this happen to me. So what does this mean?? Do i need a new tire??

My understanding of this is that a band in the tire broke causing a deformity and not letting any air out. yes I would get a new tire. I have seen this on some awd trucks before but never had it happen personally.
Technically i think the layers of the tire start to separate usually due to low air or high impacts. I would get it replaced.

Well i bought the car back in November of last year, so it would be 4 months but i cant say just how much longer they were on from there.
Ive had a couple of races where the roads were a bit bumpy. Like how new road was paved over the old to a certain point then it goes back to the old road and it leaves that bump. Could that have caused it?? Ive also hit the curbs a few times when reversing into a parking spot. Guess that couldve caused it too.

Oh ok. Well come to think of it, when traveling to my parents house, which is about 2 hours away. Where speedlimit is 75 & 65 at night. There's about like 2 spots in road that look like when they were re-done a hunk of tar was just dropped and ended up forming a nice bump. Ive hit it a couple of times, when i forget where its at but for the most part. I avoid it, maybe that could be it then.
Other then that, i cant think of anything else that the tire wouldve hit. Especially at a higher speed. I just wanna be sure i can drive around with the tire like this for a few days untill i get a new one on there. Luckily i get paid thursday, so i could fix this issue pretty quickly.

its a broken belt in the tire. not a huge deal, but you should get a replacment. when I worked at discount tire, a guy came in with one on the front of a 3500 chevy
looked like a apple sticking half way outta the tire. it was kinda scary. over 80 psi behind that thing!

As others have said your tire is damaged from the inside; it's called an impact break. I had one on a tire once after it was inspected for a leak. The hole was patched but they refused to mount the tire and wheel on my car for liability reasons. I had to buy another pair of tires.

Discount Tire does that alot. They "can't put the tire back on your car if they take it off" because it's a liablity issue. I bought tires in front of the guy at Discount Tire because he won't come down on the price or price match. Put wheel on myself and drove off. I told him "someone just made a sale and I got tires". Peace out!!!

Yea its usually caused from hitting a curb or hitting a pothole at high speeds. You usually want to get that changed as soon as you can. The belt in the sidewall is damaged where that bulge is and can possibly lead to a blowout in time. I would get it changed fairly quickly

Ill be going either tomorrow or Wednesday to try and get a new tire. Ill probably remove the wheel, throw it in my dad's truck and take it to see if i can get a new tire on and that's it. Hopefully, they'll have a similar tire already in stock there.
