Ok, this'll sound stupid...

I'm getting ready to do some work this weekend on the car, and for the first time I'll need to jack it up. Only, I promptly realized tonight that since I don't yet have the owners manual, OR a shop manual (doh!), that I don't have a clue where the jack points are. Oops.

So... Where are they? (01 Firebird Formula)? I ordered the books, but they won't be here by saturday Google didn't turn up anything, for some reason. And where's the best place to set the jack stands?

jack it up by the frame. but DO NOT work on the car with jacks holding it up. be sure to get jack stands.

there should be 2 metal rails running near he side of the car. jack in between the notches

I think installuniversity.com has a write up on how to do it properly, but either the k-member(Metal underneath engine), front or rear side frames( about 6 inches inward after and front wheels/ before rear wheels) and the rear end housing. Use jack stands and be safe!

If you need to jack the rear end up you can use a jack underneath the center section of the rear end.

What work are you doing on the car? If you cant figure out a safe place to jack a car up, then maybe you shouldn't be doing a bunch of work on it.

Following the arrows is always a good idea. I usually jack mine up using the SLP subframe connectors.

oil change, figure out what part of the exhaust is rattling.

Given the sheer number of cars I've owned or worked on, I've seen WAY too many possible places to jack them. The jack points on my old saturn look just like the pinch welds on these, and obviously you're not supposed to jack there, so I figured I'd ask instead of making a mistake.

I normally use ramps, but the ramps are too steep for the f-body.

ok, I found the k-member but my floor jack is too tall to make it under that. I'm looking from the sides now, and I can't see anything except the pinch welds. The Install-university crap doesn't help - they've got tons of aftermarket stuff all over the chassis by the time they took the pics, so mine looks ~nothing~ like theirs, and their pics are absolutely tiny.

Where on this pic (right behind drivers front wheel) is the appropriate jack point?

Really don't want to break this car.

just drive up on some blocks so you can get the jack under. get some 2x8's or something.

or you can jack it up by the subframe, a few inches closer to you than the exhaust flange. when i do it by there i usually do it a a few inches to the left of the circle.
