Question LS1 or LS2 intake manifold for LQ9?

I've heard the LS2 intake manifold is not that good in performance compared to the LS1 one.

I know I have to change water pump and the accesories brackets and on, but I need to go low profile to clear the hood.

Which one would be the best option for my LQ9 6.0L trcuk engine. LS1 or LS2 intake??

Thanks

Yeah, thanks for your replay, but everyone is always chassing the LS6 intakes, so the prices are much higher than LS1s or LS2s.

Would I get better performance with a LS1 or LS2 intake? LS6 is not a option by now.

I went with a LS1 on my LQ9. They're cheap, easy to find, they fit the LS1 injectors/fuel rail I bought with it, and the LQ9 DBW throttle body works on it.

My first option is Ls1 due to price. But the thining is that in this moment I have a LS2 and LS1 in front of me at the same price. My comon sonse tell me to go with the LS2 sinece the LQ9 is 6.0L, but I've heard they are not that good.

Please advice.

The LS2 injector plugs are different from LS1s. Will LS1 injectors and fuel rail work with an LS2 intake? Or would you be buying a complete LS2 setup?

Well... thats a good question. The intakes I am looking at are only the intake with gaskets. I thought the injectors and throtle body were not compatible at all not even between the LQ9 and LS1. I was planing on buying those parts aprt.

About the thottle body, the inlet on the Ls1 and Lq9 seems the same. Are they compatible? Can I use the LQ9 throtle body on the Ls1 intake?

Yes, I used the LQ9 DBW TB on the LS1 intake.
The other issue would be compatibility of the LS2 TB with the LQ9 computer, harness and TAC module. It's easier to use the LQ9 original TB on the LS1 intake.
I would suggest finding an LS1 intake with injectors, it will probably be cheaper than buying parts separate.

Thanks for the good info!

I am going with the LS1 intake, or LS6 if I find a cheap one.

I also found this link which I think is very useful for anyone on this dilema.

LQ9 with car intake.

ls1 would be better option since its easier to come across 78mm tb's
ls2 will require 90mm 4 bolt tb.

And I bet the difference of $$$ does not worth the HP gain. If there's any.

when you swap intakes, go to ls1truck.com to save some $$$ on accessories - on the front page, about 1/2 way down, there's a write-up on installation of an ls6 manifold and the modifications necessary when using truck accessories.

GOOD STUFF!!!

WITH THE $$$ I WILL BE SAVING BY NOT CHANGING THE ACCESORIES, I'M GONNA BUY A LS6 INTAKE INSTED OF A LS1.

If your not expecting to go too much pass the 400+hp mark, the LS1 will be ok, but either manifold will do.
The truck one will work just as well as the LS1/LS2/L6 on low and mid range RPM. But once you start pushing into the Higher RPM range and expecting to get every last bit of power out of your setup. then I would go with the LS6.

For most everyday applications and driving.. either the LS1 or LS2 will be ok and go with what is in your budget considering the fuel rails, injectors, front accessories and Throttle Body and of course driving usage.

Here's a write on the swap from the LS1 truck site. http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...7&page=1&pp=10

Don't expect any gains with the LS6. Those with trucks that have done the swap, from the truck intake, noticed little to no gains. Most people don't bother with it now unless you just need it for clearance.
