weight of Street twin vs single disc???

weight of Street twin vs single disc??? Anyone one know the weight difference of a Mcleod street twin and you average single disc aftermarket clutch. Also how much do you think you could lose at the track & dyno from the added weight?

The LT street twin with steel flywheel is around 55 lbs. The RST for the LS based motors is around 21.5 lbs minus the flywheel. A single disc application is in the 35-40 lbs range.

the steel twin is crazy heavy. granted im not a professional but i cant see the aluminum causing any problems in a drag car...assuming it would be about as heavy as a single with steel wheel. with that said i still love my steel twin.

If you are drag racing, and have a heavy car, you may need the weight of a steel wheel to get the thing to move the first 60 ft. Once it is moving, and the engine is trying to gain rpm, the weight of the flywheel is working against you. For road race, since the minimun speed is 40mph, lighter is better.

Car with me in it is 3400 right now and getting lighter, def not a road race car, more strip/street/strip car. With plans for 650-700rwhp on the gun soon. I was just wondering it at my power level right now(425rwhpNA), if its hurting more than helping.
