How to Remove the Passenger Air bag cover

Are you talking about the piece with SRS embossed on it? If so, I don't think it is a separate part but it is part of the dash so it can't be removed by itself. It might require pulling the dash or trying to do something with the glove compartment removed. Hopefully, someone will have a better solution.

+1 quickest way. But seriously I'm pretty sure there are a couple of guys that have pulled this cover. I belive that guy from Sweden did when he was wraping his dash in leather. If he didn't then someone in that thread did. Said it was just a covor if I remember correctly.

Then do the reverse when install, you can use some epoxy or similar to attach the panel to the dash.

Na... I put in a new air bag from when I got in a crash and I never hooked it up with the right wires... Well now I have the right harness wires and I would feel better knowing that if someone is next to me and i get in a crash they will be safe.

Same issue... I just got a new dash and the passenger airbag cover (the part with SRS on it) has a big lump in it.
The dash is currently out of the car so I have full access to behind it.
It appears between the airbag module and this cover there is a plastic panel that is rivetted to the dash. Evidently the foam is then glued to this and then the cover is glued to that. I could not find anyway to get to the lump as it is sandwiched in between the rivetted plastic panel and the vinyl.
Best I could come up with is dremelling out the plastic panel behind the lump. Trying to fix whatever is causing the lump and then glueing the cut piece of panel back into place.
Would really rather not do that.
If anyone has any ideas let me know.

sorry to bring this back from the dead.... but mine isnt attached at all LOL, u can see the damn airbag, so i need to get a new one, all thats holding it is a strap in the back thats held down by 2 screws, what kind of glue was used to attach this? ill snap some pics in a few minutes

So I assume your car has been wrecked , and the bag was replaced without replacing the dash ? If your case I would just find a suitable used dash that hasnt had that cover popped . With the plastic portion of the cover, that IS molded to the main dash shell, being broken now...its gonna be pretty damn hard to get it glued back down without looking like complete crap .
This is how the that area should look on a undamaged dash with just the foam cover pulled off . I have yet to beable to source the glue GM used to secure this cover to the dash . Its dark green , "LOOKS" like the green kitty hair fiberglass , its hard as a rock when dry and is powdery when you sand it off . It doesnt smell like fiberglass so its not that . As you can see , you WILL mangle it pretty good on the bottom tearing it off . The is cover is 3 layers . Bottom layer is a clear flexible adhesive . The clear adheasive bonds the mesh screen to the foam cover . So Clear , then mesh , then foam . That flap is bonded to the dash with that green adhesive I mentioned earlier . The dash in this area has molded in reliefs( or break points ) so when the bag pops , that portion of the dash cleanly breaks off in the shape of the foam cover . And , the mesh strap thats riveted to the dash , which actually covers the entire bottom the cover, hold it all to the dash when the bag pops . I really would not recommend taking this off if you intend to keep your pass. airbag functional unless you fully understand what your doing . If its not secured back down correctly or strong enough , I promise this could kill your passenger if it comes loose from the dash should the bag ever blow .
Anyways ....
Look close on this one , and you see the glue sanded off . I had to used a die grinder and a few 3m pads to get thru this stuff .
I dunno if I was much help , but thats how this thing works . Another FYI , they tend to curl up because at the coners on the top , theres only small dabs of glue . Those small dabs separate from the main dash but stay attached to the cover .

if u want to leather wrap the dash. do you have to avoid the cover? not put wrap over it, or can you add a pannle that is not solid with the rest of it?
