Default 12.42@108.45 Converter Only

My 99 SS went from 12.79 to 12.42 with just a converter change. The car is 100% stock other than a converter and tuning by Frost. This was on sticky tires though.

Good run.. is it stock weight? What was the DA? So there's no lid or free mods?

This was full weight (nothing removed) with steel wheels, stock exhaust, stock paper air filter and stock 3.23 gears. The car was pretty fast from the start. It ran 13 teens with radials. Weather was good but not the best.

I figured you would get more than 4 tenths gain with a yank 3600. Did you have more wheel spin on the run with the yank converter?

Reading this thread makes me pretty pumped to head to the track myself. I have the same exact converter the SS3600. Just need the snow to go away!

I would have thought so too but to my surprise it didn't. No wheelspin at all. 1.76 60ft

I had it tuned by Frost. Sorry for the confusion. I hate it when guys do that stuff and I did it.

What drag radial are your running with to get that ss3600 to hook? Just curious since my converter is similar to urs

My guess is reason you didnt gain more than .4 is because of the inconsistency in the (DA) weather. Ill bet you the car did gain more than that. Did you track the DA at all?

My car did 12.6 with just mods in sig (stock stall) but da was in the minus. I plan on a ss3600 and im hoping to drop more than .4 for sure.

1.76 isn't too good of a 60 ft, you should be in the 1.6s.

People wonder why I don't nut swing on yank.

Good times..

Nothing wrong with yank.. They are some of the most efficient converters for the money and produce good 60's to boot. The SS3600 in my black car went 1.5s stock internal with 3.23 gears and crappy suspension.

No hate.. Just call it how I see it. Yank is a very good company and makes one! of the best converters available to us. Just not what the vast majority make it out to be on this forum, aka nut swingers.

They seem to have best rep as far as iv seen. What I like is they are closer to the advertised stall speed than the rest so you know more of what to expect. Why would someone wanna buy a stall with an actual stall speed higher than advertised?
Also they seem to be very efficient which is a huge plus.
Only reason I can see anyone bashing on yank converters is if they started out with a X brand 3600 stall, then went to a yank 3600 which gave them a worse 60' just because X brand wasnt really a 3600 stall and more like a 4000.
From all the research its a no brainer that Yank sounds like the over all best.
