Default 12.956 @ 107.22

Finally dipped into the 12's this past Wednesday at Infineon Raceway in CA. Best time was a 12.956, but also did a 12.97 as well. More to come, looking to get down to at least 12.8 before I add any more mods.

I ran the times with Lid/Catback and Nitto 555R's in my '01 WS6 M6.

Here are vids of both passes, sorry for the shaky camera!

12.95:

12.97:

I was pretty happy, now time to get the times even lower! I have LT's and ORY that are currently off because I had to return to stock for smog, but they will be going back on within the next couple of weeks and I'm hoping for 12.6-12.7ish.

I'm not sure what the DA was that day, it was around 85 degrees outside though, so I'm hoping with a little cooler temperatures I should be able to crack off a low 12.8 with a better 60'.

s346k - Thank you! The car does run pretty good, I've just had to work on getting it out of the hole. The DR's have only been on about 2 weeks, and I just got comfortable launching on them. Still on the stock 10 Bolt so I can't launch too crazy, but I know I can get a lower 1.9x 60'

AnnivSS- Thanks! And I'm sure you'll get your desired result, how do you launch on your A4? Stalling it up a bit or just going from idle? DR's help a good amount. I was close to the same times I ran with street tires, but they just made me much more consistent and confident while launching. Clean car btw .

I stall it up to around 2100rpm-ish, leave it D and dump the throttle. I have 111,000 miles on the stock 10 bolt and my spare is in my buddies garage in dallas, so im not gonna mess with the DR's till I at least get my spare rear end up here. My 13.1 was pre lid and on the failing stock fuel pump, the tunes been tweaked a little as well. So as long as it cools down a bit later Im hoping it'll scrape into the 12's. My exhaust and headers are still in the attic lol, ive been lazy.

Gotcha. I think it varies with almost everyone I've talk to lol. There's a couple A4 guys that are at my local track, and I think most of them just launch off idle. I would think stalling it up a bit would yield better results though. If you did that 13.1 before that other stuff, you should be in the 12.9 range no problem. I've been lazy with my exhaust too lol, I could have put it back on weeks ago, but I just haven't felt like it. As far as DR's, I don't think you would have a problem. A4's are a lot easier on the drivetrain than an M6, and you could start getting some 1.9 60's for sure. Do you do a burnout at all with the street tires? I would at least spin em for a second to kick the rocks off if your not already doing that. It helps.

Rob, how'd you launch? I know you're at the track almost every week
Experimenting and practicing. Did you slip the clutch leaving at 1500 rpm or so?

Yeah I drive around the water pit and spin them a little just to warm them up a little and to sling off the debris, our track isnt the greatest either so im sure I could crack 12's are another track with a better DA. I wanna say the DA on my 13.1 runs was around 1450. Didnt get to the track last night, got a nail in my sidewall.

With help from others and a couple runs I found that launching at 1500 is too low. Pretty much I take it up to 3k-3.2k and then slip the clutch and get on the throttle. A little over 3K is the sweet spot, under that and you bog most of the time. You really just need seat time, and have to play with it in order to get comfortable. I'm far from perfect still lol, but I try to improve every time I go out. Hope that helps JT!

Yea drag times is always different then the slip. I checked on there and at like 5pm it said 80 degrees and that's way off lol. It did say the da was a little over 1900. So it was for sure over 2000 da. Car has some 12.80s in It for sure

Annivss...I had a stalled auto car. It trapped 111 at 3650lbs with a da over 2500ft. The m6 car in sig pulled my bolt on car with just a lid and muffler. It went 88 in the 1/8.

M6 cars will be stronger, it is science. A 10bolt m6 car wont touch a stalled auto in the 1/4 mod for mod tho.

I haven't seen very many full weight 99 a4 cars go 8.29 at 88 with just a whisper lid and weld in flow master muffler. I've seen many stick cars trap that much..

AnivSS - Sorry to hear about the nail, but hopefully you get it fixed and you'll get back out there and crack some 12's off.

Marlon and Drew - Thanks! And yea, the temp on the 12.95 slip was 85. I used the DA calculator and it was a little over 1500. When it gets cooler I will definitely be looking for that glory pass Drew I'm most likely throwing my LT's on this week since Infineon is closed, and then next week shooting for 12.6-12.7 if it's not blistering hot.

thats really good then for that DA and Temp. its suppose to be 90* next week (atleast in SJ) so if i were u id wait til it cooled down to atleast mids 70s otherwise i think u might be disappointed if ur running the same times with the LTs back on, thats why im waiting for like october/november to go back dont want to run the same times with more mods lol
