i ran 12.79 at 109.15 in my z with riken raptor streets. da was -217 that day. so with good weather and some sticky tires its very doable.
^^ U left out it was done with a LS1 intake!..factory freak!

My base model/flat hood '01 T/A (still own it but it is far from stock now) ran 12.97@108.4 in early 2002 with just OEM 17" Firehawk wheels and 275/40/17 Nitto 555R-II road race tires (not even drag radials and they were up front too).
I plan on it this Thursday night at test and tune. Did the free mods since last time I went. Hopefully that will put it in the 12's, but I'm still on street tires too.

What free-mods did you do??? Did you remove screen from MAF?, Port throttle body??

Airbox mod, ported & polished the throttle body, throttle stop mod, TB coolant lines and K&N filter (which I don't think will help). I did not remove the screen on the MAF.

Will that really do anything? I know the other mods helped.
That's one of the "free mods" that are not really worth it if you're expecting to see some actual gains, you'll see maybe 1-3rwhp at the most. Not going to make a difference at the track.
my 02 m6 with a u/d pully, ported tb, ls6 intake, stage 2 clutch, 3450 lbs with out me in it with 4 10 gears, 1 7/8 heads, lid pretty much every bolt on you can think off lol went 12.39 on nitto 305/45r18 drag radials oh and i have a pretty good bit off suspenion lol i went 7.79 with a 4 56 and et streets but on top end the car was a dog past 100 mph lol

just think of how much surface area is there....its restricting the intake quite a bit... i lightly ported the housing too... 1-3hp is 1-3hp.. when you do that 2 or 3 times it adds up...7-8rwhp is good for a mph in the 1/4 on this level....to me, that is a LOT for FREE!

Many times taking the screen out and even removing the divider in the MAF produces gains in stock cars, but as you add other mods, it causes issues. I believe they add power to a stock car by tricking it into running a little leaner.
I went 13.06 on slicks with 143k mile motor with only a lid... I wasnt a noob at the track though... Best bang for your buck is gears and a converter... Im still stock motor with a little better gear and a 3200 stall on Nitto DRs.... 12s are pretty easy...

My black 01 ram air went 8.5's bone stock in the 1/8 (that should be in the 12's in 1/4)with original goodyears. I will try and see if my buddy has any videos.

WEELLLLL???!!!!! waitin on some times!!! what happened? did ya puss out or did the weather get ya??? lol!!! just fkn with ya
Well....pretty disappointed. I spun all over the track in every gear but 4th. The times were really inconsistent too. Probably from the spinning. I couldn't 60' anything. I really thought it would do it after the mods. Air was really bad too I think...really humid. I don't know what good DA is but it was +2200 with a head wind of 15 -20 mph with 25 mph gusts.
thats not very good DA... it'll do it... you'll just have to be patient...my car felt slow all day, til the Evening.... then it was running harder than ever!! good god was it runnin hard in the evening, but was very disappointed in the afternoon. bout 8:30 it started runnin hard.
You'll get it. it WILL happen.. good luck man keep us posted

12's should be possible with a good track and driver in a stock 3.42 equipped car. In the early days free mods did work and the guys doing them realized that stacking 2-3hp mods was worth the effort due to the fact that there were not as many tried and proved parts combos in those days and it was a rare individual that would do warranty voiding work on a car they were still making a payment on. Also, keep in mind that parts like suspension bushings etc were "new" in those days. If you car is all stock today the bushings will have some age on them. FTR Evan also was the guy that put the factory C5 Z06 into the 11's. Driver mod is the first place to start.
