First time at a strip! 98 Camaro 12.4 @ 110 with 220k miles
It was my first time ever at a drag strip, I've always street raced before I guess. The car was very consistent! I did a 3-6 second burnout to clean and warm the NT555R's before each run. I ran 30psi in the tires and didn't spin at all. Different launch techniques resulted in the same exact time no matter what. I pulled the clean paper filter and ran a bit quicker. I was hoping for low 12's but after seeing everyone else running slow times in the heat it was reassuring. (There was a C6 Z06 running high 12's and brand new LS3 Camaro running low 14's!) My car has 220k miles on the stock long block, built trans with 3k stall, Moser 9 3.90, Frost tune, minor weight reduction 130lbs, full boltons. Welded on some LCA relocation brackets the night before that really helped with wheel hop with the lowering spring. It is my daily driver but I have an itch to run 11's. I might do a 75 shot but with the high mileage I'm a little nervous.
Baytown, TX
Royal Purple Raceway - 84 degrees and VERY humid
12.5 @ 109 - 2k brake torque
12.5 @ 109 - 2.5k brake torque
12.5 @ 109- stab the gas off idle
Pulled the air filter
12.4 @ 110 -1.5k brake torque
12.4 @ 110 -1k and stab the gas
Best Pass
60'- 1.76
1/8-7.970
MPH-86.87
1/4-12.42
MPH-110
Hoping for cooler weather soon.... and a small cam or spray for 11's!

nice job , no reason you cant get it into the 11's stock internals , plenty of info around on this site on different setups to get there miles don't matter much its either still a sound engine or it isn't ... not taking away from your accomplishment more looking to encourage you to continue.
I watched the previous owner of my M6 car crack 11's with it stock internals/most bolt ons a few months before I bought it with 224k on it and it feels just as strong now with 241,000 on it. I took my stalled auto stock internals/ most bolt ons car with 176k on it to the track last fall and even with what turned out to be a bad fuel pump causing a miss up top went 12.1 @112. Both these cars have ls6 intakes so plenty of bolt on power left right there with going to a fast and neither have electric water pump or manual steering rack , 6 speed car has no UD pulley and still spins ac , still 342's also . The auto car is still running through an ORY and has 373's.
If the weather was that hot you will close the gap quite a bit just with weather , your stall seems small for trying to crack 11's stock internals and if you ever do go cam youll want more stall , myself I don't like the thought of opening up an engine with super high miles that runs well , it might surprise you what it can do stock internals if you keep at it , and then you get to rub both the high miles and the stock internals salt in all the wounds lol.

Yeah, it hurts a lot of egos to say that! Sounds like I may be okay with the high mileage then. I always feel kind of guilty for beating on it. But not enough to stop! I'm really hoping the cool weather helps me out. I'm going to try hard to get into the 11's and then probably hit it with 100 wet kit and see how far that takes me. A 4k stall would definitely help get me there but it's just about as much as the nitrous kit. I'm debating on going H/C or building a LQ9 but either way nitrous is easier for now because I still have to drive it everyday.

Thanks guys! I was really expecting to drop tire pressure each run to get traction. But I figured if 30psi grips and I have a hour and half drive back than why mess with it. I'm sure the temperature helped traction so I might start with 25psi if track temps are cooler.

Great times.
Post up if you get back out there in better weather.
I'd like to see one more pass like this with a SSRA/chrs1313 ram air scoop, i'd bet that would put in the 11s with some decent air.

Ran test and tune during TX2K15. Only changes where a large transmission cooler and slightly thicker LT1 radiator. 3-4 second burnout on the NT555R's and they never spin. I ran consistent 1.7 60ft times. Finally dipped below a 12.4 with the temperature around 68 degrees. I raced a E63, single turbo Supra, nitrous NSX and few more. Same story every time. I out lauch them and they fly pass on the back half. We also rental a C7 Corvette convertible from Enterprise and it ran 11.7 at 119 bone stock! The 8 speed auto works really well on those.

I'm debating between a rectangle scoop going straight down in front of the radiator or 2x 4" holes with ducting going to the front grill. Either way my MPG and top end sucks so I'm looking to build a ram air setup and have my brother dyno tune the car. Hopefully before it gets super hot and humid in Houston!

Yeah I'm leaning towards the twin grill idea. Maybe between that and a better tune I can get a 12.2@112. I trap 110mph every run so any changes should be noticeable! I don't know anywhere else I can cut a decent amount of weight from without either money or making the car worse to drive or resell.

My big transmission cooler is mounted in front of my condenser. I'm debating cutting the radiator support out from under the air box and running the ram air hoses through there. Either way this is looking harder than I thought....

That's what the sux2bu system requires, cut two large holes and run the hoses from there.
That's what i'm building right now. However, my trans cooler is mounted behind the passenger fog light hole, which I did to eliminate any space issues up there.
I really think this car would fly with another 600-1000rpm of converter, maybe consider a restall? That looks like the main thing keeping you out of the high 11's. A high 1.5x/low 1.6x is in the cards with a bit more help there.
