Default Anybody in the 12s with a 2.73 gear and a4

Well anybody in the 12s with a 2.73 gear and a A4 stock convertor? And if you are i need some info on the mods. Also do not want to use NOS.
As of last week I ran a 13.65 @ 102 with a 2.0 60 ft. Thats with stock manifolds and stock y-pipe with cats, exhaust cutout, wisper air lid, smooth bellows, and free ram air mod. Also that run was with a 3/4 tank of gas, 4 coats, spare tire and jack and a labtop, so i think the car could of went a 13.50 or 13.40 with all that removed. As of yesterday i installed pacesetter headers and ory.
Thanks Nick

Thats about what I ran w/2.73s back in April and May. Where you running at, Eunice? The headers should help you out some. Nows the time to try to do it with the cool air we've had lately. I just broke into the 12s with the mods in the sig. Good luck!

Among all the freak cars out there running 12s stock its nice to see some regular cars. I'm a '99 A4/2.73 car. Ran 13.83 @ 10 stock, and on some realy humid summer days I ran a few 14 second passes, did lid and cutout along with free mods and weight reduction, and in amazing weather I did 13.26 @ 105. Never got close again. Added 17" wheels and lowered the car and ran 13.5-13.6 @ 103. Put in a 3200 stall and I'm down to 13.3 @ 103. Getting ready to do headers, LS6 intake, gears (3.42 or 3.73, haven't decided yet), and some tuning, so hoping for solid 12s. BFG drag radials as my track tires after the converter and haven't cut under a 1.95 60'.

ran a 13.8 @ 102 stock.

lid, 3800 stall (sorry, no stock stall here), ftra, hptuners, nitto's, thermo, sfc's/panhard, 2.73's

12.80 @ 107mph, 1.9X 60ft (spinning). 45* out- will trap around 105-106mph when warmer out. also ran consistent 12.80-12.87 this past sunday. and runs 12.8's when warm out also, just traps lower (like stated)

WITHOUT the converter, nitto's, and hptuners it ran 13.4 @ 104mph, 2.0 60ft.

get the 'verter, you will not be sorry. im also one of the few who can live with the 2.73's and not mind at all. i actually like them sometimes, other times i get annoyed by them but...

Gears are coming sooner for me than expected. Swapping in a stock rear out of an M6 car with the 3.42 gears a week from tomorrow (Feb 26th) and doing some tuning via HPTuners. I was going to do headers but figured gears were more important. When I'm at the track and I shift into 3rd 100-200 ft before the traps and the car just lags down low (even with my stall slipping into a higher RPMS with its shift extension) and I just know I'm leaving alot out there, it bothers me to no end. That will be remedied now, can't wait. Not optimum gears for the track but a good street gear that will see the track a handful of times a year.

i'd like to hear results on time/mph changes from your gear swap. not to be cocky, but i doubt you'll even see .2 if your stall is 3500 or over.

it will FEEL faster though undoubtedly, but sotp dyno can be decieving.

good luck.

02 WIFE- i doubt you will have a problem going high 12's w/ a converter and drag radials.

A friend of mine with a Z28 ran a 12.8 @ 107. Its a 2000 with Flowtech LT's, X-pipe and lid. Stock tranny, suspension, 2.73's and everything with street tires. He removed front sway bar, back seats, passanger seat, spare tire and jack.

Thanks sleeperstyle if its a 12.99 I'll be a happy camper. I plan on upgrading the tires in the summer. I ran my 13.43 with the stock Goodyear RSA's. Launching will be a challenge!

Talking

I ran at Memphis Motorsports Park yesterday and went 12.95 @ 107.99 mph. I have SLP Lid w/ K&N filter, Predator Programmer, Hooker Longtube Headers, SLP Loudmouth Exhaust and BMR Lower Control Arms w/ relocation brackets. This was on Kumho street tires, and 17x9.5" Torque Thrust 2 Wheels all the way around. Still stock converter and 2.73 gears.

I'll post results for sure. I check around this sight every day, just dont post much. I am setting out on my mission for a 12 second slip this year though, and I'd like consistent 12s even in stock weather. The car has ran 13.26 before but most of the time 13.3-13.4, so I'm hoping with the gears and tuning and if the weather will cooperate, a 12 shouldn't be too far off. April 30th our club (Middle TN F-Body Association) has a track day but it's at a local 1/8 mile job at over 1000' above sea level, so I'm not expecting much there. Car normally does 8.5-8.7 in the 1/8th and there it always runs 2-3 tenths slower, so if with the gears and tuning the car can get my regular 1/8 mile times it will give me some hope for the next trip to the 1/4 mile. Might have to make a trip to the local 1/4 mile much sooner though, because I know I'll be curious.

Wish me luck this Saturday. I am hoping to break 12s with my stock 2.59 rear end. My last run with a 1500 ' DA was 13.1. I am going to get to the track early, let her cool down and see what happens....
