Default New Motor New Times Perplexed

Here are the times with my new motor. Car is a 1989GTA with a 355, A4 and TPI. SS3600 Stall. Could not cut a 1.7x sixty foot like I could with the old motor with less horsepower. However I'm up 4mph but only up .1 second on the et. Makes one wonder.

First run with best ET.
R/T .151
60' 1.897
330 5.254
1/8 8.095
MPH 85.81
1000' 10.555
1/4 12.618
MPH 110.75

Run with best MPH
R/T .227
60' 1.944
330 5.297
1/8 8.135
MPH 85.77
1000' 10.597
1/4 12.659
MPH 110.96

Potentially best run but maybe let up to soon??? RATS
R/T .177
60' 1.886
330 5.246
1/8 8.084
MPH 85.95
1000' 10.547
1/4 12.625
MPH 108.63

makes perfect sense..you have more power so you can't get it to hook and run the 1.7 60'. You then gain 4 mph and drive around yourself and manage to pick up .1 even though your 60' wasn't what it used to be. So if you can get a stickier tire or get your 60' down to the same as before you would beat your old time by 3+ tenths easy

I think you are correct. I have the M/T ET Street Radials, LCA's and the rest. Running the stock torque arm. I guess I will have to look into a shorter torque arm and a couple of other tricks to plant the rear tires. Thank You for the reply.

Must...change...torque arm... The stock unit is junk on those things.

ET is one thing but MPH really shows the power you're making.

There are so many variables. Its hard to say where the weak link is. After my past experiences the past weekend, track conditions are pathetic in this heat. I've heard of some cutting 1.49 on a stock torque arm. I agree, the stock torque arm is a POS, but I'm just sayin...

I lowered the tire pressure down to 15.5 pounds and ran a 12.55 et. Pressure had been around 18-20 pounds. Looks like I need to lower the tire pressure to 14 pounds and see what happens. I'm also searching for a new torque arm. I can see a 12.4X time slip and with real good air maybe a 12.3x timeslip.
