Default How do I fix no heat problem?????

I know for sure that this has been a topic on here before and I know that it is a problem with these cars.
I dont have any heat in my car and I dont have an antifreeze smell or it dripping on the floor either. I thought thats what happens when the heater core is plugged? So now I'm thinking maybe I hooked the the lines up wrong when I put the new motor in? So my question is, is that possible? If so what is the correct way? If its not that, could it still be the heater core? I have heard to hook up the garden hose to one of the lines and open it up about half way and that should clear out the core. If I cant clear it out how hard is it to change this. It looks like a pain in the a$$!

Thanks guys.

If the heater core was leaking it would still produce heat yet you would smell coolant through the vents and there would be coolant vapor all over the inside of the windows. Yes changing out the heater core basically on any vehicle is a pain in the ***. Some a little less than others. Yes you can hook a garden hose up to it, but you must be very careful w/ how much pressure you put through it or you can rupture it and you will then have a leaky heater core that you must replace. Even if you were to mix up what hose goes where it would still produce heat.
My guess is your system has not been bled properly. Get your coolant up to operating temp and then loosen the top bleeder screw to see what happens. If the air comes out w/ a little bit of coolant then there is still air in the system. Keep repeating opening up the bleeder screw and closing to build pressure once again and add coolant if necessary. Do this until a steady stream of coolant is produced.

Ok guys flushed out both hoses that go to the heater core and a bunch of brown water and brown rust chunks came out. After doing that a couple of times the water turned clear hooked the hoses back up started the car aand now I have GREAT heat. I was wondering where all that crap comes from but I see the fittings around the water pump and stuff are metal so that stuff must rust away slowly and end up in the heater core. Thanks guys!

oh and no its not a 160 thermo its a 180.

If you had that **** in your heater core, you've got it in your radiator and engine too. Time to flush the whole thing.

No I dont think so, I just replaced my motor when I bought the car and there wasnt much of that stuff in the old motor or radiator when I took it out. I think that stuff has been in the heater core from before.

well glad to hear that solved the problem, like rob said it fixes 99% of the problems just running a hose to flush out the old crap that just gathers in their. i just flushed mine out in feb and its been working awesome!
just remember that at least a few times a month just put the heat on and run the car so that it circulates for most summer months it not run so thats why the heater hoses end up with nasty stuff since their not being used.
