OBD1 DTC Codes & Troubleshooting

OBD1 DTC Codes & Troubleshooting
I always notice people referencing a DTC code they get and it always is confusing where to start and what the DTC code really means. Every time I've seen someone mention a DTC code, I find myself referencing the service manual to see what it says. Well - that's fine when you have the service manual in your hands but when you're at work and need a quick reference... not so much. So, I spent a few hours taking pictures of every DTC description and troubleshooting chart in the 1995 OEM Service Manual, downsizing pics, uploading, etc. I'm sure this will come in handy for others.

OBD1 code 26
I have a 94 SLP Firehawk having numerous problems. First, I have a hard code 26 quad driver # 1 fail. Snap on scanner shows L&R integrater at 128 but BLM on the left bank in the high 140s, L O2 sensor running between 87 to 145 and the right up to 950 mv in closed loop. The wideband shows full lean at idle and the engine is popping badly Into the exhaust. When it does pop, the wideband richens slightly. Off idle it stops popping and richens to around 17:1 and 14:7 when snapped. I changed the L O2 sensor an chased the wiring. I've lost comm with the scanner and can't connect at all with my Datamaster and the Tunercat on the laptop. I've changed datacords, traced the entire harness and changed PCMs. I now have comm with the laptop and scanner for some unknown reason. I burned up two motors last summer lean burning the left bank pistons both times. I bought an Impala drove it home, pulled the motor and installed it into my car using my harness and the Impalas PCM. The same lean run is happening! 42 psi at idle and 38 under load. Bad harness? I have another one to install on it. I did have a soft code for the L O2 which didn't come back after clearing, but still have the above problem.
Service manuals show 26 as an EGR problem which is turned off. The scanner says it's a driver fail. I have found reference to a QD#1 for this application but haven't located what the #1 driver runs. I'm betting it runs the left O2 and left bank injectors. Help!

For a 1994, DTC 26 is only for the EVAP solenoid circuit. All that quad driver stuf is for a 1993 ECM that is different from your PCM.

Actually, I found the quad driver #1 drives the evap system. I also found the problem all along was the harness shorting out the driver for the left bank injectors shutting them off intermittantly. Thanks
