Default Driveability issues with comp 224/230 cam?

Wanna here some input from other people who have this cam, its the 224/230 581 592 114 XER cam. Put it in, car made pretty good power, but surges and bucks pretty bad between 1k and 2k give or take. I didn't expect that out of a 114 lsa cam. Is this the nature of this cam or is there more left in the tuning?

definitely in the tune, that cam should drive like stock. My 230/236 112 cam only bucks alittle under 1k but other than that, my car is easy to daily drive.

i had this cam and it drove perfect for me, even untuned, but then again my car always behave's well on stock tune.. this was with heads tho too so that may be the difference... this cam and stg 2.5 5.3l heads works really well.. or well it did for me!!

I have a similar cam - 224/230, but more lift (.609/.604), but in a 383. However, this cam drives very well. The only time I get some bucking is in my work's parking garage going downhill. Sometimes doesn't like to be babied at 10 miles per hour. But, that's an easy fix - just push the clutch in and it behaves. Around town, school zones, parking lots - no issue at all. I also have 3.42 gears. I'd say look at more tuning it it's still bad.

I went with the 3.89's when I got my 9" because my car was my DD and I did alot of highway driving, But this past season I started racing more so 4.11 would have been better for the track.

I have 3.90 gears with this cam and a Yank SS4000 Stall and it drives like a dream.
