X2..it's in 5th. Push it over more..check the fuse for the Rev. Lockout..it may be blown.

Did it just start suddenly, or has it happened before, and just got worse? Really sounds like your only getting it into 5th.

I have seen what it takes to defeat a reverse lock-out solenoid. Both arms!!

Get under the car and check the plug for the reverse lockout on the transmission itself. Mine was unplugged at one point, as well, and it took both arms to pop it over into reverse, but it would go in if you pushed hard enough. It's possible your plug came unplugged. Do any hard launches/shifting/slamming of the car recently or were you working under there at all? I actually just forgot to plug mine back in once after pulling the transmission. Just an idea.

If the car is in reverse, there is no way it will move forward. It's not mechanically possible.

Yeah check the connector had a buddy that when he plugged it back together it bent a terminal over and made it very difficult to put in reverse.

I just installed a moser 9 in and everything seemed to be working fine till all of sudden i thought i was going forward when in reverse just like the OP, but then found out i had to force it into reverse and i was actually in fifth. found this thread just went to the garage and found an unplugged wire. should be the reverse lockout one. i couldnt quite see where to plug it in with the car on the ground but ill jack it up tomorrow and plugging it in should solve my problem.
