I had the same issue, and Renewed mine anyway(didn't know i had a warrant at the time) everything went ok and I had my temp one till my hard copy came in, following Monday I had a letter in the mail saying my renewal was denied for an outstanding warrant and gave me a certain amount of time to take care of it and still get my new License
P.S. they will only take you in on the spot if it's in that office's county...

You can get warrants pretty easy and not know about it. If your fighting a ticket/charge/etc the DA can call a court date, and they may or may not tell you, then if you don't show up there is a warrant. It happened to me. The thing is there are at least 3 types of warrants, 1 type they go look for you, the other it's just documented and they can give you a hard time, or the 3rd is it's just noted next time you come to court. Mine was the 3rd. I didn't know about it till I showed up for what I thought was my next court time.
Good ole Legal system. I don't think it's what our founding fathers had invisioned right now.

PLEASE make sure you that you don't have any warrants! I have a friend that went in to renew his license to find a DPS officer of immense posterity *sp* come from behind the back telling him that he has a warrant from some other county. "Mr. ______, would you please step off to the side over here for me". He spent an unexpected weekend in the cage.

I used to believe that too but sometimes people get so busy in their life or some kind of turmoil happends to where it actually does slip their mind. ALMOST happened to me before and I'm usually a person on top of things like that. It's just easy to feel and say that until you come close or it actually slips past you and you find out the hard way.

LOL, I went one time when I was 18 to get mine renewed. But had a warrant and the officer came to the front asked me to follow her. Took me in a room and asked if I could call anyone that could come up with money (600) and bring it to avoid jail. Luckily my mom was nice enough to show up with the money.
The 600 was for the warrant not a bribe.
If you have a warrant anywhere do not risk it.

I ment to state that my warrant was for an expired inspection and registration stickers...even though I had my new ones in my center console I still got the ticket and the stupid judge didn't dissmiss it...and I just kinda forgot about it being busy with school, work, and studying
