I was thinking of hooking up a trans temp gauge, and I'm not really sure the best way to do it.....Any help would be great........Thanks

you mean electrical wise or where to mount the sending unit? I have my sender in the pan as I feel its the best average temp. You can buy a bung and have a local exhaust shop weld it into your stock pan for very little trouble. The pan would need to be removed for this btw.

Where to mount the sender. I like the idea of the sender in the pan, seems like it would be an accurate reading. When buying a temp guage, do they usually come with everything you need to install? (except bung)

When I did Austin's gauges it came with the sensor. Most of them should.

They will list whether the sender is included. Usually, they are like 1/8 NPT. Thats a pretty common bung to find. Some also say the threads are self seal, with no teflon tape required. In all other applications, NPT fittings would require teflon tape to seal.

That one includes the sender, with adapters if you have a bigger NPT hole already drilled and tapped. however it doesn't look to come with the 1/8 bung. So you would need to pick one of those up.

Thats the pressure port right above the shift linkage.

I was just thinking about getting an Aeroforce interceptor gauge to monitor my trans temp among other things. Do you guys think I'd get about the same reading off of that as I would installing one this way?
