Default P0230 Primary Fuel Pump Circuit

My car quit on me today so I pulled out my laptop and pulled this code p0230. Fuel pump will not prime and I cannot get it to start. If I jump the fuel relay it starts fine but not when commanded from the pcm. I tried to turn it on with the scanner controls but no dice. The pump runs fine otherwise, so does this mean the fuel pump driver in my pcm is fried or what?

It's probably VATs.
Try cleaning the key "pellet" or push the key inwards it may not be fully seated in the ignition switch.

It's not the vats, there is no security light on and it starts when I put the batterty charger on it. I bought a brand new battery and its still having issues. I'm thinking its a ground problem since the battery is in the back.

I jumped it again at the relay so I could move it, the pump runs strong, so something else wierd is going on.

Troubleshoot the problem with a meter or test light. It's a simple circuit and you said you have the ability to command the pump on.

Replaced the relay already and tested it with a dovm.
no dice. Not getting 12v at the relay from the PCM even when commanded.

The 2nd url in post #6 (posted by 2xLS1) is a circuit schematic:

If you don't get this voltage at the relay, then you have to check if that wire is broken.

Yea, thats my next step, if I can't find a broken wire anywhere then it looks like my pcm may be fried.

Also check that the pins in the relay socket and the PCM connector are good and make contact... PCM is last resort.

Looks like my PCM is toasted no fire to the fuel pump. I disconnected the red connector and applied 12v to it and the pump ran fine. I went ahead and ordered a replacement PCM and now I'm waiting on it to come in so I can reflash my tune into it. This is the first time I've actually seen a PCM failure, I'm wondering what caused to fail.

Look at the PCM connector and the harness connector... do any pins show signs of burning or bending/breaking...?

I actually saw this exact thing 4 or 5 years ago - flashed a borrowed PCM from another car to test it - it was a problem in the PCM... thought for srue it would have been the harness or pins - tried the PCM first cause it was quick and easy. Odd, but it happens...

Did the replacement PCM solve your problem? I have the exact same issue with a chev stand alone controller, all voltages test fine but when the fuel pump relay is plugged the signal voltage (green white wire) drops to 1.5V and will not switch the relay.

It did. I replaced the pcm, reflashed the tune and it has been running fine for years.
