someone gave me a programmer several years ago from a wrecked car or one he didn't have anymore or something. it's part no is 345752 and it's for a 95 camaro/firebird LT1 or a 94-95 corvette LT1. I just called hypertech and they want $200 plus $25 s/h to reformat it. Thats damn near what a new one costs. Is there any way to get the old vin out of there by disassembling it and pulling a fuse or something? I mainly just want to use it as a code scanner and what not.

I thought they did. I got it from someone who was just cleaning out junk from a shop or something in AZ IIRC. I was cleaning out the garage the other day and found it and just tried plugging it in. I knew it had a vin programmed into it because it didn't work the last time i tried it but i figured maybe the batteries would be dead after 3 years but i think it just uses the cars electronics and doesn't store the memory on a battery. It did work when i plugged it into my car but it came up with a message saying something about a vin mismatch. I had heard it cost $75 to get the vin taken out but $200 is a bit ridiculous imo. I'm tempted to take it apart and see if there is anything in it that might be holding the info that needs erased.

Yeah that is steep. I would either take it apart and see what in it, then throw it in the trash if you can't cheat it, or just throw it in the trash. That's just me though LOL

i would toss it in the trash hypertech sucks your better off using you money on a mail order tune that will give you better gains and more options

I thought I remember somewhere about PCMforless.com or Ion being able to reset Hypertechs...can't remember for sure though.

I had one in the past and if i remember correctly it doesnt read the code it just takes you through its tuning process and erases any codes you have. he can get a cheap scan tool from advanced auto parts for like a hundred bucks though.

I don't really need a scanner (don't have any CELs) i just figured since i had it i'd try to make it useable.
