Default Hp gains with LS2 6.0L heads on LS1?

hello, i have a LS1 with a ls6 intake, and a comp cams custom ground cam 230/236 with .600 lift, im putting 400 to the wheels now, i want to put a procharger on, but not until winter, but i can pick up LS2 heads for 300 bucks now, the heads would lower my compression for boost, i was wondering if the heads would give me an increase in rwhp or no help at all, or even lower my hp. What are your thoughts?

With the LS2 heads N/A, that's gonna kill your HP till you do the procharger.

I was thinking of 317 heads, Ooop's sorry

I have been doing some research and you may want to check into ststurbo.com. These seem to be making some great power . Just a thought.

Everything in this thread is WRONG!

LS2 heads will bump your compression up. They have 64cc combustion chambers. Compared to 66cc LS1 chambers. You will gain power by putting LS2 heads on your car.

The heads you are looking for are LQ4/LQ9 heads. The flow the same as LS2/LS6 heads but have 71 CC chambers. They have a casting number of 035 or 317 and you can get them for $100-150. You will gain some flow but lose compression with the LQ4 heads, so power will probably be down in the lower rpms, but up in the higher rpms.

Correct. They are the same casting as all LS6 heads. So they will all make the same compression and power.

The 02-04 LS6 just have lighter valves. Which helped with high rpm valve float and valvetrain longevity with the bigger 02-04 LS6 cam.

Why does LS2s have a higher compression, 10.9:1 vs the LS6 10.5:1 compresison?

I would imagine that the pistons have a slightly higher compression height. I don't think cubic inches play a role in this as stated, but I could be totally wrong. Care to clarify Jon?

It's all about the cubic inches. You are compressing more air in to the same amount of space.
