Can anyone tell me how much horsepower and torque can a Borg Warner T5 take?

Depends on which unit you are referring to. There are alot of different T5's.

Power isn't as important as driving style.

Check bearing preload and move the torque arm off the trans and to a separate mount and it'll last a lot longer.

An 83 Camaro T5 is a non world class unit. If its a V8 unit, it will handle about 250-275 lbs of torque depending on the weight of the car. You can tell if its a V8 unit by the number of splines on the input shaft. A V8 unit will have 26 splines. The other non V8 T5 GM unit has 14 splines if I remember correctly.

alot has to do with weight of the car as well, if your under 3000lbs with around stock power youll be fine, above 3000 and anything over 350rwhp, youre asking for problems
