Default What's a fair price for an LS1 pullout

Hi,

I'm doing research for a future project, and I was wondering what a fair price is for an LS1 pullout that comes with everything needed to make it run. For the sake of argument lets say the swap has 60,000 miles on it.

My plan is to swap the engine into a Jaguar. I was looking into using a 5.3 LSx engine, but to make it work I'll have to use LS1 intake, accessory drive, and oil pan. By the time I do all that I might as well go LS1. On the other hand a 5.3 engine is much cheaper so maybe it's worth it...

Anyway, I'd like to hear what you think about this.

Thanks,

Darian

may not help much but you can also get a 6.0 pretty cheap & they can make alot of power...@ a local junkyard they had a pullout 6.0 lq4 for 800 bucks...but I ended up buying an ls1 for 3 grand with everything, accessories, transmission, wiring & ecu

& the ls1 came out of a 2002 ss camaro with vigilante 3000 stall converter & 70,000 miles on the engine so that's a pretty good deal

What year of Jaguar are you doing the swap in? I'm putting the finishing touches on a 406 sbc swap into a 1973 series I xj12.

I used a 5.3 in my 3rd gen which requires the LSx engine to be setup in 4th gen dress. So I needed all the accessories, intake, pan, exhaust etc

When it was all said and done my $200 5.3L cost $1600 to get ready to drop in, but it took me 9 months to deal hunt all the necessary parts and not break the bank

If you can source a complete engine for $2000 or less, or engine/trans combo for $2500 or less, then its a good deal

My 99 ls1 t56 with everything complete was like $3400. Ls1's run quite a bit more than 5.3's or 6.0's and the 6 speed setups are much more than auto's. You can get a ls1 with an auto in the $2500 to $2800 range. A 5.3 with and auto I have seen for $1500 or so. It just depends what you want. Hope this helps, Josh

That's a very good point. Those extras really add up. I was quoted $3,500 for a complete automatic pullout with 60,000. While this is much more than an LSx engine, after I do everything to make the LSx fit, it's not that much cheaper.

That's a very good deal, but I haven't seen anything like that in Texas. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places...

I want to put an LS engine into a series III (1982-1987) XJ6. Right now I'm just in the research phase.

Are you using a GenI engine?

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I paid $3,600 for a complete '00 LS1with the 4L60e, Howell harness and ECU with a purported 15,000 miles. Also had some S&P parts (and a custom engine cover kit) with it since it was in a Bel Air before.

This place is a very popular source for motors around here. I find their web site a very good source for pull out prices. they have an 02 LS1 motor and T56 with ony 4K miles for $3500. Seems like a good deal to me.

I have ~$1500 into my 5.3L/4L60E with corvette accessories and F-body oil pan. Right now I am still running the truck intake, but I have an LS6 intake setting on the shelf. I just need to get the LS1 fuel rails and different injector plugins and I'll be able to run it, but its low on the priority list.

I paid $5800 Cdn for a 99' LS1 w/ 6 Spd with 50,000 miles.

Came with a B&M Short Throw, Long Tubes, LS6 Intake, 5.3 Heads, Ported TB, and an unknown cam.
