Lt1 steam pipe
How important is it to keep this pipe on the motor???....will there be any heating issues????...... I have removed mine and installed plugs

put it back on. it needs to be there, steam pockets tend to build up in LT1 heads due to the reverese cooling system. steam pipe is the only way to release it. if urs is removed ur asking for trouble.

Exactly. Any steam gets pushed to the back of the heads (why I earlier said that the back cylinder temps may rise). The GM engineers put them in the back to purge any steam/air. That is where they need to be. Coolant flows from the front to the back.

OK i re-installed the stocker steam pipe but i'm haven trouble finding the original rubber washers.....does anyone know where to buy these new????? or a part number i could use .....

thanks for all the info i found the steam pipe seals GM# IS 10108689 ON THIS SITE IT HAS A LOT OF GM PART# IF ANYBODY NEEDS TO HUNT DOWN SUM NUMBERS FOR 93-2002 F-BODY GO HERE....http://shbox.com/1/Parts.htm.....

The threads will accept 1/4" pipe fittings. You could use AN fittings and push loc hose ends & hose. A 90 deg elbow on one side, with a tee on the other. -4 hose and fittings would be big enough. A short piece of hose from the elbow to the tee, then a longer one from the tee to the radiator.

Pure nonsense. If you understand the point of the reverse flow cooling (apparently you don't), it has to be on the back. Those that have it plugged off are asking for issues. The engine will not run to capability if the rear cylinders are hotter than the rest.
