How important is it to keep this pipe on the motor???....will there be any heating issues????...... I have removed mine and installed plugs

put it back on. it needs to be there, steam pockets tend to build up in LT1 heads due to the reverese cooling system. steam pipe is the only way to release it. if urs is removed ur asking for trouble.

Bad idea to plug the heads. You need that steam pipe put it back on.

It is there to purge air from the cylinder heads. If not present, the rear cylinders may overheat. You don't want it removed.

Definitely keep it. If you have aftermarket heads (mine are AFR), you can choose to have it on the front or back, and you don't have to use the stock style. You can use regular fittings and heater hose if you wish.

ok i will install 90's on with barbed fittings and a heater hose on the front cuz there a little hard to access with the motor back in my T/A

Exactly. Any steam gets pushed to the back of the heads (why I earlier said that the back cylinder temps may rise). The GM engineers put them in the back to purge any steam/air. That is where they need to be. Coolant flows from the front to the back.

To further correct you on a detail the other guys who corrected you seem to have let go. It is not just aftermarket heads that have ports front and rear. Stock do too but that is because they are BOTH THE SAME HEAD.

Reread his post. Seems to me like he thinks only aftermarket heads have tapped holes on the "front".

Anybody that has seen a stock head knows there are holes in both ends. They don't make left and right hand heads. You love to talk down to people, don't ya?

OK i re-installed the stocker steam pipe but i'm haven trouble finding the original rubber washers.....does anyone know where to buy these new????? or a part number i could use .....

The threads will accept 1/4" pipe fittings. You could use AN fittings and push loc hose ends & hose. A 90 deg elbow on one side, with a tee on the other. -4 hose and fittings would be big enough. A short piece of hose from the elbow to the tee, then a longer one from the tee to the radiator.

you can go to local parts store and go to the section where the drain plugs are and there will be rubber and metal style washers. get 4

They don't HAVE to be in back. Yes, it's in the back from the factory, but many have had them in the front and have had no problems, and many have even plugged both ends of the heads and had NO steam pipe and been just fine.

Pure nonsense. If you understand the point of the reverse flow cooling (apparently you don't), it has to be on the back. Those that have it plugged off are asking for issues. The engine will not run to capability if the rear cylinders are hotter than the rest.
