Thread updated 11-28-09 with kevin 67/6.0 and deletion of a couple links.

For reference the deleted threads where BRP and Edelbrock links, both heavy hitters in the A-body swap parts world now days, so if you need headers, mounts etc.. look on their respective site.

Ryan, I'm working in a '68 Olds F85 that might prove helpful to some of members. Happy to give back some help. The site has been a huge help along the way.

Funny you should say this. I was just reading about the Edelbrock mounts. They say that you should use the small block Chevy perches like you did, but you have to slot each side 1/2" for proper fit. So, I guess the Edelbrock instructions are accurate.

Can you post the Chevy small block engine mount perch dimensions? I would like to see how they compare to my 300" Buick perches.

Does anyone have a list of transmissions that can be used that won't require cutting the tunnel? I know it depends on how far forward you want to mount the engine, but assuming you put the LS/LQX in stock position, what trans can you put behind it and leave the tunnel alone? I know the T56 and any of the new gm 6speed autos (6L80,90) will require a good amount, but what else?

Depending on the year of car you have I would say that the only items that will fit without modification will be the TH350, 200-4R, 700-R4, 4l60 and any 4 speed. Even the TKO series transmissions require some minor cutting. Obviously you will need adapters for almost all of these trannys.

Reading through the forum.. I see alot of 4L type trany swaps being done and next to none of the 6L... Well I usually take a road less traveled so I'm doing a 1970 Monte Carlo, 2010 L96/6L90E build.. Come to mention it I saw no MC's at all... I picked up LS1 conversion motor mounts and trany cross member from BRP.. really simple and effective and they bolt into the original locations as the stock mounts.
The L96 was a 2010 replacement for the LY6 (so I have been told) it has the L92 heads so I already swapped in a LS3 intake.. The original MAP sensor fit like a glove.. For now I'm going to use the stock TB (I actually like the look, there is nothing sticking out of the side of it like the TB from an LS3) The L96 is E85 ready from the factory (this could be a plus!)
I have been looking over how I can re-do the ALT bracket to get it out of the way.. the idler pulley is actual the issue... I found a simple fix... But I really like to have the ALT mounted on the bottom and the power steering pump mounted on the top. The stock PS pump is the remote type which looks alot cleaner.. I think a really cool alternative would be to relocate the ALT to the rear end housing.

So as we all know the mods to the trany tunnel is a big limiting factor on using the the 6L auto trany in a build... I thought I had a good idea, in that I would graph in a tunnel from a GTO or newer Camaro.. I was leaning toward the GTO because I have a complete set of seats from a 2006 and thought.. HEY!.. Just graph in a "whole" GTO floor pan... Seems an easy idea... Try to actually locating the floor pan... LOL Fat chance... I have a feeling for now I will just have to cut out the tunnel.... To this point I have mainly been gathering parts (mounts, Be Cool radiator, fuse box...) I still need a MAS (it mistakenly got misplaced when they shipped me the motor and trans)...
So there is is...

Default 66 Buick gets a 5.3

I Recently put a used 5.3 4L60E in my 66 Buick Special. I modded a pair of old Camaro/Chevelle small block headers with some flanges I cut out on a water jet at work. Otherwise it's a stock motor. Its got trans dapt mounts, smaller Dorman power steering pulley, shortened H3 oil pan, Summit aluminum radiator, stock PCM tuned by Texas Speed, stock wire harness (lengthended with extra wires taken out.) Thought some of you guys might appreciate it.
