Default Need to drain trans fluid from torque converter to ship it
I've got a 4l60E torque converter that I need to ship and I'm trying to figure out how to drain the trans fluid out. About half a cup drained out by just flipping it over. Is there a way to get more out to make the shipping cheaper. Let me know if you have any ideas and no I'm not going to drill a hole in it. Thanks

turn it upside down but dont let it sit flat so it wont get any air. that is the only way that I have ever drained them.

try a transfer pump, can pick one up for a couple bucks at walmart. I have not tried it but don't see why it wouldn't work

Sounds good Cody I'll give it a try and flip it over on an angle and just let it drain out hopefully that works.

I have had good luck with turning them face down on a bucket and letting them drain.

Putting it pump side down on top of a bucket will drain it the most.
12 hours approx.
A pump is useless.

What did the converter come out of, a 4l60E?

It came out of a 2001 Trans Am, it was a complete Engine/Trans pull out from FPARTS on E-Bay.

It doesn't take 12 hours to drain a converter. I would seal the snout up with masking tape before shipping it. Thats good practice even for periods of storage also.
