Default 370 build ?

Ok I have done 2 different setups.... now trying to see what are my options and possibly what kind of power im looking at!
Any help/suggestions on a setup would help thanks!

first setup

2004 Block - GM LQ9 Iron block

C.I - 6.0l 370

Stroke - stock 3.622

Crankshaft - Stock LS crank

Rods - Stock 6.098

Pistons - Diamond Pistons LS1 Forged Flat Top Piston set w/ -2cc Valve Reliefs

Rings - Diamond Racing Ring Set, 4.030 Bore

Head Gaskets - Cometic LS Multi Layer Steel Gasket 4.030 Bore

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2nd setup is about the same but a bit cheaper

2004 Block GM LQ9 Iron block

C.I 6.0l 370

Stroke 3.622

Crankshaft Stock LS crank

Rods 6.098

Pistons Mahle LS1314030F04 - Mahle PowerPak Piston and Ring Kit
Rings Included with powerpak

Head Gaskets Cometic LS Multi Layer Steel Gasket 4.030 Bore

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now head options are either a slight port job on some 5.3 heads and bigger valves like stock size ls1 valves or some manely vavles

or might get some 243s with slight port job!

I have a 370 with the same Diamond pistons with PRC 5.3 stage 2.5 heads. I am very pleased with the outcome. Can't say powerwise where you would be as there are many variables, but I don't think you will be disappointed at all.

I will be getting my dyno numbers this spring to see where I am at. I had to wait as I got a new rearend and needed to go through the break-in process of it.

You'll like the 370, they can make great power. I also run PRC 5.3's on mine. Makes 500/450 at the tires through a heavy drivetrain and pushes my 3900lb sled to bottom 11's at 124mph on motor.

Yep, mahle pistons and Scat 4340 I-beams (6.125"). Heads are shaved to 57cc (12:1 compression) and smoothed out exhaust ports, cam is a custom 24x/25x .613"/.613" 110+4, intake is a ported 92/92 with single stage direct port. Be happy to answer any other questions!

Is it purely economics that dictates 370s as opposed to biggier strokers?

Wouldn't a 396 or 410 engine make more HP/TQ and work less even with FI or N2O than a 364 or 370?
I personally am not looking to go big at all ...Just looking for a 6 sec car..... also its kind of a budget and not wanting to go into changing crank and what not ........

I have the LQ4 bored .30 over, PRC 5.3 stage 2.5 heads (57cc) with Pred Z cam 230/232 .613/.598 on 111. I am using the stock crank and rods (GM 2005 year). Just have the LS6 intake for now, will be upgrading it in the near future.

Previous was a full bolt-on LS1 with about 3/4 of the suspension done and yes there is a night/day difference. The 370 would literally eats up and **** out my old LS1. It pulls much harder than the LS1 did everywhere in the RPM range.

FWIW - My buddy who rode with me compared my car to his Procharged LS1 on 8lbs of boost. He said they felt very close.

Yes the 370 iron blocks run hard! I have one with Je pistons, Lunati pro billet rods, Ms3, TFS 215 heads on a 200 shot plate off the Fast 102 intake. Can you say in the 9's.
