What to paint rear end with?

What to paint rear end with? So I got a new rear end for my car, its used so I want to clean it up and paint it. I just dont know I I should spray paint it or do it with something else.
What do you guys think?

I did my 10-bolt cover with some spray can Rust-oleum anti-rust primer and gloss black protective enamel. First I had to use a wire brush to get all of the loose rust and everything off of it, then used some dish washing soap to clean and degrease it. About a year later it is holding up just fine and didn't take long at all to do it. Powdercoat is obviously a more permanent solution but for a quick job that looks good mine turned out ok.

ive painted mine while it was in the car, a little tough but you can do it, i ended up painting it with a brush, it allows you to put it on thicker, its just a little tough getting into the tight spaces

Here's a link to pic's of the underside of my '99 SS. I painted it a number of years ago on jackstands with black POR-15. It still looks good today.

I wire brushed mine, sanded it, washed it off with soap and water, dried it, used a rust converter, waited the reccomended 2 days, primes it with self etching primer, and then hit it with rustoleum.
I dont have pics on the computer, but it still looks great about 1 year later.

I used rustoleum hammertone on mine. I brushed it on. You can pick up the quart at walmart and also comes in aerosol cans. Just an fyi if you do decide to go that route the black is more like a charcoal/gunmetal color.

There are a couple of tips to remember when using POR-15;
1) Clean the surface to be painted thoroughly to remove any oil & grease and loose rust. POR-15 sells a number of preparation products.
2) Don't get POR-15 on your skin, or you'll be wearing it a long time (been there, and done that
)
