Default Anyone using eps single plane cam 236/248

I wish I saw this before I bought my T-rex cam but I have never heard of anyone running this cam with a single plane or saw dyno numbers. Does anyone out there know how it stacks up against the T-Rex on the dyno? Or have any info on it at all? I am curious if it would benefit me if I changed to this cam.

Product Information
Intake Duration: 236 Degrees at .050" Tappet Lift.
Intake Lift: .615" with 1.7 rockers.
Exhaust Duration 248 Degrees at .050" Tappet Lift
Exhaust Lift .615" with 1.7 rockers.
108 Degree LSA

Designed For 5.7 to 6.2 Liter Engines with Single Plane 4 Barrel Type Intake Manifolds and Cathedral Port Heads.
Extensive Computer Tuning Required.
Broad Power Band.
Dual valvesprings recommended.
Piston To Valve Clearance Must Be Verified Before Installing This Cam!
This cam is designed to give a broad powerband with lots of midrange torque when used in conjunction with a single plane 4 barrel type intake manifold. Most cams designed to work with stock type intake manifolds have really poor torque characteristics when used with a single plane intake. This cam will have a very strong power band in comparison to most other 'stock intake' cams when used with a single plane intake manifold.

2200 to 7000 RPM Operating Range.

Available In Either 3 Bolt or 1 Bolt Patterns.

Price: $400.00

I talked to the guy from eps and he told me I will have a larger power curve with this cam over my t-rex and he said I will gain a good amount of torque because the trex cam was designed for efi manifolds with long intake runners. I think I am going to give it a shot and just sell my trex cam.

Do it and make sure you have some data to log the change, a 110 LSA on the Trex is not bad at all for us carb guys, so i dont see a huge improvement, but i could only guess, i think the EPS will bring power in sooner though.

Unhappy

I called EPS to ask about that cam and was told that I would have to cut my stock LS2 pistons for valve to piston clearance to use this cam but they could custom grind a comparable cam. I have the GMPP 440hp carbed LS2. Hope this helps.

It's a really good cam and is making power in a few cars that I know of, we're still trying to find what converter it wants though for a stall speed.

What ball park hp is it making in the cars you know of? I see this cam is advertised with 2200-7000 rpm range so I would think a 3000 stall would be pretty good for it no?

So far we've gone as loose as 5300 and it keeps picking up ET and 60' times. Started at 3700 and it was a dog out of the hole.

Hmm wonder if flycutting would have to be done? Looks like a stout cam with that single plane probly a good running combo.

5300 stall that is up there....I am sure that is great for the track but what do you think would be a happy medium for street and strip use...a 3800-4000?

My buddy street drives his 4800 all around town with no heat issues, he's put 50 miles on it before one way and it stayed around 180 degrees. The key is a huge trans cooler or the biggest B&M with the built in fan on it and good airflow around it. Like I said the super tight nitrous converter that his 3700n/a was definitely not what it wanted

I am thinking of down here, a huge stall will usually kill a trans down here int he Texas heat. It gets really bad here.
