so in the next month or so i plan on putting a 3" electric cutout in my 95 z28. it has pacesetter LTs and ORY, i was only planning on running one single cutout somewhere down on the I pipe.

so where is the best place to put a cutout that allows for the most room? or where is the best spot for performance (if there is any gains idc really)

you can put it anywhere, just make sure you have the motor and all on the cutout when you position it on the pipe. you may have to rotate it before it is welded for ground clearance.

also you can get the QTP oval cut out that is positioned on rounded sections of your piping. you could position it where the Borla's cut out is.

what cutout would you guys recommended? i was checking out the qtp oval cutout but is it really worth it? or should i be able to run a regular one without smashing it every bump i go over?

x3 there's an indention in the body molding perfect for the cutout to exit towards the pass side

I want to say any cutout will be fine since if it's positioned properly you're gonna drag other things before you have to worry about smashing it

it really depends on harmonics, you can actually tune the exhaust system with where you put the cutout, programs like PipeMax can help with that, but if you just want noise then before the axle somewhere where you have the most clearance possible.

I like RGSS's, but it looks like it'd get in the way if you had to do anything with the rear or driveshaft. Like I said there is a spot just further up from that about 3/4 the way down the I-pipe that works perfect and you can use a standard cutout. Looks like the one pictured is a custom made cutout also which could pose a problem for some.

that one pictured above is pretty sick but it looks like a PITA to make.

mike i think i remember seeing his last summer, and ill prob end up putting it right there, do you know if his was on the y pipe or the I pipe?

Not to hijack the thread, but with long tube headers, would there be a significant power gain by having two cutouts in the y-pipe instead of one cutout in the I-pipe?

Depends on the motor really. I had contemplated it but it's such an expensive job it just wasn't worth it to me.

Mine is on the i-pipe before it goes over the axle (video clip in sig for audio) like everyone else has mentioned in this thread.

his is just after the Y merge......I can help you out with it once i get my rat back togehter lol.......wouln't take much to cut and weld that system up even if you wanted to do it out back like in the pic above.....

with a stock motor like his the gains would be miniscule if any at all.....

now on a cammed or cammed and heads car it would be a different story....
